Police Arrest Three Women Over Lover’s Death

The police in Ogun State have arrested three women over the mysterious death of the lover of one of them in Mamugba community, Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson of the police in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the arrests to Premium Times today, said the suspects connived to dump the remains of the victim in the bush.

He said, the man had visited to spend the night with his lover‎, identified as Rukayat Bashorun, but died in a mysterious manner.

“The Ogun State police command has arrested three women namely: Rukayat Basorun 37, Omobola Shodimu, and Aanu Owoade, for murder. The suspects were arrested when information got to the police that they secretly dumped a corpse in a bush”, he stated.

The police spokesperson added that the Divisional Police Officer for Ogijo, Tijani Mohammed, who received the information led his officials to the area at Mamugba village, Simawa where the main suspect, Ms. Basorun, was arrested.

“Investigation revealed that the deceased happened to be Rukayat’s lover who came to spend some time with her but died in suspicious circumstances in the house of the suspect.

“Rukayat then connived with her two other accomplices to take the body and dump it in the bush”, he emphasised

Mr. Oyeyemi said, on interrogation, Ms. Basorun confessed that the deceased was her man friend who went to visit her but suddenly fell sick.

“She stated further that she took him to a private hospital but the money charged by the hospital was too much for her to pay which made her to take him to an undisclosed clinic where she said the man gave up the ghost”, he stated.

“When asked the reason why she decided to dump the corpse in the bush, she could not give any reasonable response”, Mr. Oyeyemi stated.

The police spokesperson said the corpse had been recovered and deposited at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital mortuary in Sagamu for autopsy.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

Lobatan! Muslim national security staffer quits only eight days after working with Trump

Only eight days after working with President Donald Trump, a Muslim-American national security staff resigned, saying that working under president Trump was an insult.
Rumana Ahmed began working at the White House during Obama’s administration immediately after graduating from college. Rumana, whose family moved to Maryland from Bangladesh, worked for only eight days after Trump was elected before resigning.
In an editorial piece, Rumuna wrote that the President’s ban on travellers from seven Muslim countries was what prompted her to make the decision, having come to the realization that she could no longer work for an administration that saw her and her people as a threat.
She revealed that after Trump resumed office she felt uncomfortable going to work and often got cold, uncomfortable stares from people in the White House who were wondering why she was still there while some others totally ignored her. This made it impossible for her to interact with anybody. She also revealed that Trump kept her and other staffers out of the policy-making process, causing them to be clueless and only find out about things happening within the White House from the news.
A day before she left, Rumuna told of how she bade farewell to the few colleagues she had left and notified Trump's senior NSC communications adviser, Michael Anton, of her plan but he did not ask why she was leaving. It is revealed that Anton is in support of authoritarianism and has written a book that attacks diversity as a 'weakness', and Islam as 'incompatible with the modern West,' so it comes as no surprise that he did not ask her why she was leaving.
She described how she revealed to him that she could no longer work with the current administration and how he showed a lack of concern.
"I told him I had to leave because it was an insult walking into this country's most historic building every day under an administration that is working against and vilifying everything I stand for as an American and as a Muslim,' she wrote.
''I told him that the administration was attacking the basic tenets of democracy. I told him that I hoped that they and those in Congress were prepared to take responsibility for all the consequences that would attend their decisions."
In an interview with CBS, Rumuna further defended her decision to leave, saying;
"Walking into that building was becoming more and more difficult every single day because everything that administration was doing stood against what I stood for as both an American and as a Muslim".

Update! UK approves Diezani’s trial for ‘money laundering’

All is set for the trial of a former Minister of Petroleum Resources Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, and four others in London for alleged corrupt practices.

The trial has been fixed  and more evidence were hauled to the United Kingdom by the EFCC.

Part of the evidence are the proceedings of a Federal High Court in respect of the order of final forfeiture of $153million allegedly traced to the ex-minister.

It was also learnt that one of the suspects had been found at a hideout in London and placed under surveillance.

There have been reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was negotiating with Mrs. Alison-Madueke. The EFCC yesterday said it was not engaged in any secret negotiation with her.

According to a source in the anti-graft agency, who spoke in confidence with our correspondent, the agency is set for the trial.

The source said: “The UK investigators have gone far on the allegations against Diezani. From the records made available, the ex-minister and four others will face trial as from June.

“We have taken more evidence to the UK, including all court records relating to the final forfeiture of $153million. We have a huge pile of documents.”

Responding to a question, the source added: “In fact, one of the suspects on the radar of investigators has been located in London and he is under surveillance.” He declined to name the suspect.

On the reported negotiation with the former minister, the source said: “There is no basis to negotiate with the ex-Minister in view of the overwhelming evidence at our disposal. You should ask yourself what purpose the negotiation will serve.

“The EFCC is set for the trial of the ex-minister at home and abroad. It is curious to be talking of a curious negotiation with someone who has a prima facie case to answer.

“The ex-minister has forfeited $153m; we have had far-reaching investigation on her involvement in the $115m poll bribery scandal; we have seized some of her choice properties and she has consistently maintained that she is ready for trial. So, what is the basis for negotiation when we have a good case?”

The National Crime Agency (NCA) on October 2, 2015 arrested Mrs. Alison-Madueke and four others for alleged bribery and corruption and money laundering.

The former minister, whose movement has been restricted to the UK, remains under investigation.

The NCA found some of the ex-minister’s brothers and other business partners complicit in the money laundering allegation. She was arrested with her brothers.

Messrs Abiye Agama and Somye Agama are Mrs Alison-Madueke siblings who operate some UK-based businesses hurriedly shut them after the NCA and the EFCC searchlight became intense.

The two brothers are directors of Hadley Petroleum Solutions Limited, a company the authorities believe was used for money laundering. The other directors are Ugonna Madueke and Abu Fari.

The company was registered in June 2013 in Manchester, but was dissolved less than two years later last February without filing any account.

Abiye, 33, a point man of the firm, is a computer engineer and manager. He was a director in 11 other companies. He resigned from seven of them.

According to EFCC records, some of the assets linked with Mrs. Alison-Madueke are:

  • A block of six units service apartments on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi
  • Six units terrace flats in Yaba, Lagos Mainland
  • Twin four-bedroom duplexes in Lekki Phase I
  • Two duplexes on Banana Island
  • A duplex in Asokoro District, Abuja
  • A mini-estate in Mabushi, Abuja
  • A set of 12 terrace duplexes at Omaremi Street  in Port Harcourt
  • Large expanse of land at Oniru, Victoria Island in Lagos
  • A multi-billion Naira estate in Yenagoa
  • Two apartments in Dubai marked as J5 Emirates Hills (30million Dirham) and  E146 Emirates Hills valued at 44million Dirham
  • A hotel in Port Harcourt under investigation
  • $37.5m mansion on Banana Island in Lagos.

But Alison-Madueke had disputed some of the slush funds and assets attributed to her including the $153million.

She said: “I have up till now chosen to maintain my silence and not to respond to inaccurate press reporting. However, given the level of deliberate inaccuracies, I am now forced to respond because it is clear that the EFCC is taking advantage of my silence to try me by media and to convict me in the eyes of the public on false reports.”

“First and foremost, whilst the reasons for my being out of the country are public knowledge, the principle of fair hearing demands that I should have been notified of formal charges if truly there was a prima facie evidence or indictment against my person linking me with the said issue, so as to ensure that I had adequate legal representation. This was never done.

“I wish to state that I cannot forfeit what was never mine. I do not know the basis on which the EFCC has chosen to say that I am the owner of these funds as no evidence was provided to me before the order was obtained and they have not in fact served me with the order or, any evidence since they obtained it.

“I do not therefore, understand how the EFCC can in the same breath say that the monies in question are mine. If they had evidence that the monies were mine then they would not /should not, have used the procedure which applies only to funds of unknown ownership. If indeed they used this particular legal procedure because they did not know who owned the monies, then how can they now be falsely attributing the ownership to me.

“Let me re-state categorically as I have always maintained, for the record, I have not and will never steal money from or defraud the Federal Government of Nigeria.

“ I am willing to respond to any charges brought against me that follow duly laid down procedures.”

Nigerian man returns draft of N900,000.00 mistakenly paid into bank account to EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has urged the general public to be good and patriotic citizens by reporting any money deposited mistakenly into their various accounts.

The Commission stated this when Dr. Aliyu Usman Tilde, an academician, columnist and writer returned a draft of N900, 000.00, (Nine Hundred Thousand Naira Only), to the Gombe Zonal office of the EFCC. The amount was mistakenly paid into his account.

Three months after his account officer could not trace the origin of the strange alert, Dr. Tilde reported the case to the EFCC. Investigation by the EFCC however revealed that the amount belongs to a law firm that was counsel to Federal Ministry of Justice in a case that involved a former staff of Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Investigation further revealed that the Clerk of the firm made a mistake in writing Dr. Tilde’s firm account number when submitting bank details to the client’s Ministry. Dr. Tilde raised a draft of the said amount in the name of EFCC EXHIBIT ACCOUNT and brought same to Gombe zonal office. The beneficiary firm has since been contacted.

See how ISIS employs new killing tactic, straps explosive suicide belt to a puppy

ISIS have now moved on from strapping children with suicide belts to strapping animals and sending them into the midst of people to get exploded.

This new tactic was uncovered by Iraqi rebel groups involved in the fight against ISIS after they discovered a puppy with the weapon strapped to it and helped to diffuse the bomb thereby freeing the animal.
The plan had been for the dog to cross to the rival forces where it will then be detonated with a remote device, but the rebel group was able to foil the plan and shared a video online. The explosive was made from several bottles connected by some electrical wires, designed to kill or injure up to four people.

Meet woman who suffers from rare condition that makes her smell of fish

Imagine walking around always smelling of rotten fish and onion? That's the sad reality for Kelly Fidoe-White from Oldham, Greater Manchester, England, who was born with a rare condition called Trimethylaminuria that causes her to reek of a nauseating fishy smell.
Kelly first became aware of her condition when she was in school and kids always taunted her about smelling of fish. Kelly gave excuses, saying that she ate a fish sandwich, however, when the smell never reduced and she ran out of excuses, she became the object of extreme bullying.

To combat the smell, she began spending a lot of time in the shower, scrubbing her body till it was red, soaking herself in deodorants and perfumes, yet nothing worked and the bullying only worsened. Now, she copes by taking a cocktail of medications, but is unsure if they have any effect or not.

Trimethylaminuria is a condition which causes one's body to be unable to break down a compound found in food that contains a substance called Choline, meaning a lot of ingredients are off the menu. People suffering from the condition regularly produce a range of strong bodily odours including rotten fish, onion and faeces. Kelly describes her own smell as 'fishy-oniony'.

The condition is relatively unknown, even amongst doctors, and affects between 300 – 600 people worldwide. This means that Kelly had to research and diagnose herself and a test was done, confirming her diagnosis. There is no cure for the condition and Kelly handles it now by taking a cocktail of medications but is unsure if they have any effect or not.

To limit the number of people she comes in contact with, Kelly works a night job where colleagues say you can tell if she's been in a place and some of her co-workers make complaints about her smell. She has found love now and she revealed that her husband's acceptance of her condition has helped boost her confidence.

SON Arrests Two Chinese Over Fake N5bn Tyres Into Nigeria

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria has arrested 2 Chinese nationals, Taolung Shen and Xu Jing Yau, who were described as dealers in substandard tyres worth over N5bn.

The suspects, according to a statement, were paraded following their arrest, and the sealing of the warehouse where they had been cloning different sizes of tyres under different brand names.
The suspects, the statement added, churned out the substandard tyres into the Nigerian market under brand names such as Powertrac, Aptany, Harmony, Duraturn, Bearway, City Tour, Winda, Glory, Chachland, City Grand, Grandsonte and Sunny.

According to SON, the suspects brought the substandard tyres into Nigeria by stuffing them into one another.

“Sometimes as many as five tyres were stuffed into one and the tyres would have bent and ruptured in several places, thereby looking weak and slack.

“But the Chinese adorned the tyres with new labels and shinny linings to create the impression of being new and healthy,” SON said.

Some of the tyres found in the warehouse had post-dated manufacturing dates.

The agency’s Director General, Osita Aboloma, who conducted journalists round the warehouse, described the tyres as dead on arrival, saying allowing the sale of such tyres in the country amounted to “surreptitiously taking away the lives of millions of Nigerians.”

He observed that by stuffing the tyres into one another and conveying them through the sea from China to Lagos, the quality of the tyres had already been compromised.

Aboloma also noted that the crude way the tyres were separated on arrival in Nigeria and the poor storage facility, without sufficient aeration, in the warehouse had further compromised their quality.

“The SON Directorate of Compliance intercepted one of their trucks on the highway, tracked it and then this.

“You can see the amount of danger that these people are posing to our people and our economy just because they want to make huge profit at the expense of the lives of Nigerians.

“It is a clear case of investing millions in illicit business in order to take away the lives of millions of Nigerians, to destroy the lives of millions of Nigerians. If we allow something like this, it will amount to killing Nigerians,” Aboloma said.

The DG said there would be no hiding place for people who dealt in adulterated products.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa calls on AU to intervene, blasts South African Home Affairs Minister

Image result for images of abike dabiri

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora has called on the South African government to take definitive measures to protect Nigerians and other Africans in their country. She also called on the African Union to intervene urgently in the renewed xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other Africans in South Africa.

She also described the suggestion by Mr. Malusi Gigaba, South African Home Affairs Minister, that diplomacy is the solution to attacks on Nigerians in his country as very insensitive. In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, she said:
“It appears that Mr. Gigaba would rather dwell on and entertain himself with diplomatic niceties when the welfare of Nigerians resident in South Africa are at stake now more than any time in recent history.
“His response to the xenophobic attacks, which has now become a recurring decimal on Africans, most especially Nigerians living peacefully in their host country of South Africa was indeed unfortunate.
“While it’s no longer news that law-abiding Nigerians in that country have borne the major brunt of these attacks, the news by the Home Affairs Minister that his country is trying to get rid of criminals in his country at the time when indiscriminate mayhem and looting of law-abiding Nigerians is very suspicious, to say the least.
“Even if this unguarded statement must be taken in its face value, we wonder if wanton destruction and indiscriminate killing of their African brothers is the most sensible excuse to give. ‘The home affairs minister should have been more guarded and introspective in his statements so as not to further fan the embers of xenophobia that may get out control if care is not taken.
“Nigeria and South Africa have a long-standing diplomatic relationship in which the former played a critical, if not a pivotal role that culminated in ending apartheid, among so many of her positive interventions. ‘Indiscriminate killings, in which 116 deaths have been recorded of her people MUST not be how Nigeria should be paid back. Xenophobia is such a debilitating social disease, based mostly on ignorance, in which its carrier also suffers.
“I therefore suggest that the home affairs minister should engage in the mass education of the South African people about the debilitating effects of this disease with immediate effect. “It is apt to mention at this juncture that the home affairs minister only met with African consulates forum, an association of African consuls general, based in South Africa recently , despite the fact that this meeting was long overdue.
“Mr. Gigaba’s response to the mayhem that a segment of the South African people perpetrated on law-abiding Nigerians in South Africa smirks of insensitivity, and it’s therefore very reprehensible, if not unacceptable.
“In view of this unfortunate statement, I am therefore restating my earlier call on the African Union (AU) to take up the South Africa’s xenophobic issue as a matter of urgency. ‘The days that the Nigerian government will fold its arms while its citizens are maltreated to the point that some of them have lost their lives for no just cause are long gone”.
