Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor has revealed the roles she plays in movies aren't that
satisfactory to her, but she just has to carry on to be professional.
According to her, she cries over her movies when she sits down to watch
them at home. Ozokwor revealed this to Saturday Tribune. Her words;
“Sometimes, I cry when I watch some of the characters I had played in
movies at home. I just thanked God it wasn’t the real me that was
involved, but a character.
“Nearly all the movies where I played wicked roles made me cry because I
remember what that character had done to somebody. do these jobs to
the best of ability because I want to sit down at home, watch and cry
over what I’m doing to people.
“Two of the roles that caused me the most tears were: one role where I
seized the feeding bottle of a month-old-baby and threw it away.
“I wept profusely after that scene that the director had to stop
shooting until I was able to control myself. If someone had done it in
real life, I would have exposed the fellow to the world to see.
“There was another one where I went to take my sister’s daughter from
the village, what I did to the girl, if any human being can do it to a
fellow human being, I don’t know what God would do to that person in
turn. I met her in the kitchen, beat her so much that she fell down the
stairs, rolled down and died from broken head and pains all over.
“I’d been playing wicked roles but those two movies are exceptionally
horrible. I doubt that any human being would do that to anyone.”
About the morality of her roles:
“When I play the role of a bad woman, I see myself at that instance as a
mirror through which I want society to see and appreciate the fact that
it is not good to be bad. This is the reason I do it with so much
passion that it becomes almost believable. I also see such roles as an
opportunity to minister to lost and wicked souls that jealousy, hatred,
envy and all the likes can only bring one to ruins.”

The Lagos State Government today arraigned the owner of Vintage Hotel in
Owode Onirin area of Ikorodu, Chief Patrick Okeze before a Yaba
Magistrate Court for allegedly aiding and promoting same sex sexual
activities and gay club in his hotel.
Okeze was arraigned alongside two of his workers, Sunday Isang and
Bright Oba for allegedly encouraging the illegal act to be perpetrated
by young men and minors in the hotel contrary to the provisions of Same
Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act of 2014.
The state government had on Thursday arraigned 28 adults and 12 minors
before Yaba and Ebute-Metta Magistrate Courts respectively for engaging
in homosexuality using the said hotel.
Specifically, Okeze and his workers were said to have aided 40 people
and others still at large, to engage in same sex activities as well as
gay club/party in the said Vintage Hotel located at No 999, Ikorodu
Road/Toyin Close, Weigh Bridge, Owode Onirin, Lagos contrary to and
punishable under Section 5 (2) of the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition)
Act, 2014.
After the one-count criminal charge against Okeze (56), Isang (30) and
Oba (28) was called and read before Chief Magistrate Adewale Ojo, the
defendants were not allowed to take their plea on the account of the
fact that the court lacked the jurisdiction to adjudicate on the subject
matter of the case.
The prosecution team including Ms Adetutu Oshinusi, Bosun Aroyehun,
Folabi Sholebo, Olaitan Shoetan and Nnena Okereka, all from the State’s
Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), urged the court to remand the
defendants in prison pending the outcome of the legal advice of the DPP.
But the defence team led by Mr Alli Abba urged the court to
discountenance the application of the prosecution, and admit the
defendants to bail, as the offence under which they were charged, is
bailable.
He referred to the arraignment of the principal suspects in the case who
were granted bail by the same court on Thursday, assuring that his
clients would not abscond if admitted to bail.
But in response, Police’s counsel, Mr Effiong Asuquo said the
application for the defendants to be remanded in prison pending legal
advice was based on the need to prevent the defendants from going back
to run the hotel if granted bail.
He said the subject matter of the case being about Same Sex Marriage Act
could only be tried at the High Court, and that the application was
needed to keep them in custody pending legal advice.
In his ruling, Magistrate Ojo held that in view of the provisions of
Section 264 (1) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos
State, he found merit in the application for the defendants to be
remanded pending the DPP advice.
The court said having examined the affidavit in support of the
application for remand, he found “sufficient merit” in it, and ruled
that: “It is hereby ordered that the 1st, 2nd and 3rddefendants be
remanded in prison custody pending their legal advice.”
The Magistrate also adjourned the matter to September 4, 2017.
Magistrate Ojo had, after the arraignment of the 28 adults on Thursday,
ordered them to undergo health screening by the Lagos State Aids Control
Agency (LSACA) and sexual rehabilitation by the Lagos State Domestic
and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT).
Responding to the arraignment, the State’s Attorney General and
Commissioner for Justice, Mr Adeniji Kazeem said the development was an
eloquent testimony to the commitment of the Governor Akinwunmi
Ambode-led administration to fight all forms of crime and criminality.
“The arraignment is a confirmation of the commitment of the Lagos State
Government to ensure that every resident abides by the law of the State
and also to put a stop to the exploitation of under-aged children who
are often lured by unscrupulous and criminally-minded adults to engage
in acts or behaviours that are not in consonance with the laws of the
State,” Kazeem said.
He also reiterated the commitment of the State Government to do
everything humanly possible to uphold the Child Rights Protection Laws
of the State.
To ensure proper rehabilitation of the suspects in line with their bail
condition, DSVRT Alternate Chair, Mrs Clara Ibirogba, who was at the
arraignment, pledged to work with other relevant agencies of the State
Government to ensure that the best care is provided for the suspects.
On his part, Dr Michael Essien of LSACA also promised that the minors
would be given proper counselling and necessary medical screening to
determine the State of their well-being. Pm News
The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, said on Friday that the
notorious kidnapper, Chukwudidumeme Onwuamadike, also known as Evans,
would be charged to court soon
Idris attributed the delay in Evans’ prosecution to police
investigations to track down his accomplices within and outside the
country.
Evans had raked in millions of dollars as ransoms paid to him by his
victims’ families before his arrest on June 10, 2017, in one of his
mansions at Magodo, Lagos State.
The IG, who spoke at a lecture which centred on proffering solutions to
security challenges in Lagos, expressed worry at the rate at which the
youth were venturing into kidnapping.
He reiterated the need for the establishment of special courts to ensure the speedy trial of suspected kidnappers.
Idris said, “Evans will be charged to court very soon. This is a man who
has over the years been involved in kidnapping, collecting money in
millions of dollars and harassing Nigerians from the various parts of
the country.
“What we are doing now is to ensure that we conduct thorough investigations so that anybody involved will be brought to book.
“It seems kidnapping is becoming attractive to the youth. The more we
arrest, the more they are coming up. But I believe that with special
courts, this will be addressed.”
He said plans were underway to recruit more policemen to effectively pursue the principle of community policing.
The actor granted Saturday
Beats a short interview and he allegedly exposed his Nollywood actors. Read what he said below...
“I know what some actors and actresses did to gain the fame that they
are enjoying now. Some of the men in the industry are gay while the
women sleep around and that is why I am not bothered about where I am
today. When it is your time, it is your time. Some entertainers are
opportunist while others are born lucky. Omotola was born lucky from day
one; her first character was a lead role. Some people marry for money
and not love. That is why I am not really bothered because some of the
guys are gigolos. They do not make their money from the movie industry
but from the gigolo business. I cannot do such because I have a name to
protect. In the 80s when I started this business, none of them was
anywhere to be found. I have seen it all and I refuse to join them. Gays
have approached me but I declined their offers because my anus is an
exit point and not an entrance. The same thing with sugar mummies but I
refused to accept their proposal because I cannot sleep with married
women. I believe in karma. If it does not happen to you, it would happen
to your generation.”
He added that when he started out as an actor, the profession was not
fetching as much money as it does now till the media began to hype the
profession. He further stated what irks him about being in the
limelight.
“How much were we being paid in the past compared to what we are earning
now? When we started, the money was not really there and that is why we
were more interested in the show and not the business because there was
no money.
“There is another thing called ‘packaging’ and that is what I am
against. I am not saying that entertainers should not package but they
should do so according to their means. Some ‘package’ to the extent that
they borrow people’s cars and clothes. It just doesn’t make sense. Some
people ‘package’ till they run into debts and then when the money
comes, they clear the debts,” the actor said.
Lanre and Lege have brought their cases to Saturday Beats, okay
let's say Saturday Beats reached out to them and they clearly had two different stories. He also said, Mercy has never
cheated on him. Continue below to read both explosives from both men. She already got a new apartment.
Gentry said, “The State Criminal Investigation Department picked the
young man up and arrested him yesterday. I made a complaint against him
for defaming my name and men of the Nigeria police went to pick him up
because I do not know him. I have never even seen him before yesterday.
They later released him yesterday after a lot of people trooped in to
beg on his behalf. However, before he was released, he was asked to
write an undertaking that he would never try such a thing again. I don’t
know him from Adam. My wife is a very gentle person and she remains my
wife. She is not a troublesome person neither is she promiscuous. I have
never accused my wife of cheating on me and we have never had a fight
over her faithfulness to our marriage. The only little misunderstanding
we had was over the issue that I gave her money to cook for me but she
did not do so. That was what caused our misunderstanding. The guy in
question is just looking for cheap popularity and it led to his arrest.
He has already written an undertaking to refrain from tarnishing my
image. Initially, they wanted to lock him up and charge him to court for
defamation of character but people really pleaded on his behalf so I
had to be lenient and asked them to let him go after he wrote the
undertaking. I have no quarrels with my wife.”
In his words, Lege Miami said that Gentry was a “liar” and he had once
accused him (Lege Miami) of sleeping with his wife last year in the
presence of an actress and his manager. He further provided details of
what he claimed transpired at the police station.
“A policeman called me on Tuesday that I should come to the SCID that
someone made a complaint against me that I was tarnishing his image.
When I got to the station, I saw Lanre Gentry and he acted as if he did
not know me. When he was feigning ignorance, I had to remind him that
the first time he threatened my life was in the presence of an actress,
Ireti Osayemi and my manager. In the presence of the police, I told him
that the first time he threatened my life was last year; then this year,
he resorted to sending me threat messages via Instagram. He claimed
that I always call his wife at odd hours and I am sleeping with Mercy
Aigbe. All these allegations are lies. When he first accused me of
sleeping with his wife on set, I called Mercy Aigbe some days later to
report him but she pleaded with me and asked me to keep my calm. He
sent the message to me last week Sunday asking me to leave his wife
alone again or he would ruin my life. He used a fake account to threaten
me to leave his wife alone or else I would die. I went to report the
case at Lagos State Police Command, GRA, Ikeja. When I honoured their
invitation at SCID on Tuesday, Lanre’s story began to vary and after
showing them evidence, the policemen told me to apologise to him but I
refused because I was not wrong. They eventually asked me to write a
statement and as I was writing what exactly happened, they wanted to
teleguide my writing but I did not listen to them. That is what
happened. As I speak, different unknown people have called me asking me
to remove the Instagram post and also go and apologise but I have
refused to do so because I have not offended him. Mercy Aigbe is just my
colleague and we do not have an amorous relationship. I have never even
called her at midnight as her husband claimed,” he said.
