Man stabs friend to death

A man in his twenties, Chigozie Ugwu, on Sunday reportedly stabbed to death his friend, Nwoye Arua, 35.

The incident occurred 10:30p.m. at Amegu Ejona Orba in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State.The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident to journalists in Enugu, said the suspect had taken to his heels after allegedly stabbing his victim with a knife over a yet to be established reason.

“On March 11, at about 10:30pm, one Chigozie Ugwu allegedly stabbed his victim, identified as Nwoye Arua, about 35 years, with a knife over a yet to be established reason and escaped to avoid arrest.”

Amaraizu said that following the report, a manhunt for the suspect was intensified, having rushed the victim to Nwosai Foundation Hospital for medical attention.

According to him, the suspect was arrested while the victim was later confirmed dead by the doctor and the remains deposited in the hospital mortuary.

He said:

“The suspect is helping the operatives of the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in their full scale investigations.”The PPRO said the command, through the operatives of Udenu Division, had commenced a full scale investigation into the alleged murder.
