The female student of Great Mills high school, who was shot by another student this Tuesday, has died, bringing the death toll to 2.

16-year-old Jaelynn Wiley was shot in the head on Tuesday, March 22, by 17-year-old Austin Rollins, before he was gunned down by the school's resource officer.

Jaelynn's parents told the media that their daughter was brain dead and they planned to take her off life support. She died at 11:34pm on the night of Thursday, March 22, surrounded by her family, the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office said in a statement on Friday.

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office said on Wednesday that Rollins and Willey had been in a relationship that recently ended.

"All indications suggest the shooting was not a random act of violence," police said in a statement.
