Ogun Police Kills Six Suspected Kidnappers, Rescues 2 UCH Doctors

Six suspected kidnappers who abducted two medical doctors along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway have been shot dead by men of the Ogun State Police Command.

The suspects were killed on Tuesday during a shootout with the police in the forest while the two medical doctors from the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, Oyo State, were rescued.
The doctors were on their way to Lagos for a programme when they were abducted.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi revealed that the suspects were traced to a forest at Fidiwo area in Ogun along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
He said the suspects have been on the wanted list of the Command for quite sometime as a result of their nefarious activities along the expressway which is one of the busiest roads in the Country.
Oyeyemi explained that the state’s Commissioner of Police Ahmed Iliyasu ordered the officer in-charge of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad, DSP Ubah Adam, to go after the kidnappers after the abduction of the doctors was reported.
PMNEWS gathered that a team of FSARS was able to trace the kidnappers to a forest through technology and went after them.
The police spokesman revealed further that on sighting the policemen, the robbers opened fire and the police replied. At the end of the gun duel, six of the suspects were killed while two policemen sustained injuries.
The injured policemen have been taken to the hospital for medical attention.
Recovered from the suspects are one double barrel shot gun, one single barrel long gun, several cartridges, live and expended ones, assorted charms and cutlass.
Iliyasu praised the gallantry and professional conduct of his men and warned that Ogun State will never be a safe haven for criminals to fester.
The police boss assured members of the public of adequate security at all times.
