The former Labour member broke cover as a recall petition opens in Peterborough giving voters the chance to oust her.The 35-year-old spent a month behind bars and is thought to be wearing an electronic tag after she was jailed for lying to avoid a speeding charge.
But today Ms Onasanya – who is appealing her conviction – said
“I have not perverted the course of justice”.
In a YouTube video which appears to be filmed inexplicably in front of a green screen backdrop of New York, she said:
“What would you do if you knew you were innocent? “Would you sit back and accept it?”

“If you wish for me to continue as your independent MP, I am willing and able to do so, but the choice is now in your hands.”
The Peterborough MP, who ousted Tory Stewart Jackson in 2017 on a majority of just 607, was jailed and expelled from the Labour Party after being convicted of perverting the course of justice.
A rare recall petition – only the second ever of its kind – will open at 7am tomorrow giving voters a chance to boot her out.
