Alleged Sexual Misconduct: Reps Summon 3 Accused Lawmakers, US Ambassador

The United States’ Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, alongside the three Nigerian lawmakers accused of sexual misconduct, have been summoned by the House of Representatives joint committee on Ethics and Privileges and Foreign Affairs.

The foursome are to appear before the committee on July 14, over the allegations brought by the envoy that the three Nigerian Lawmakers engaged in illicit activities while in the US.

Melaye, however, said he was willing to apologise if he had wronged any individual in the matter.
“If there are instances that I am not a super human being, if there are instances where as a human being I have reacted negatively I am also ready to be apologetic about it.
3,916 Ghost Workers Busted During Anti-Corruption Purge In Enugu State
The authorities of Enugu State have uncovered at least 3,916 ghost workers in the 17 local government council areas of the state in a crackdown on corruption.
This disclosure was made on Wednesday by an audit panel set up to conduct staff audit through biometric capturing while presenting its report to the state executive.
Burundi Crisis: Ex-Minister, Hafsa Mossi, Shot Dead In Bujumbura
A former Burundi minister for East African Community (EAC) affairs, Hafsa Mossi, has been shot dead by unknown gunmen outside her home in Bujumbura.
Mossi, who was an MP in the East African parliament and a former BBC Swahili service journalist, was shot dead in the capital Bujumbura on Wednesday, police said.
“Hon. Mossi assassinated 10.30 in Gihosha”, in the east of Bujumbura by, “two criminals in a vehicle,” police spokesman Pierre Nkurikiye said on Twitter.

FG Issues Stern Warning To Nigerian Universities: ‘Admit Through JAMB Not Post-UTME’
On behalf of the Federal Government, the Ministry of Education has on Monday iterated its stance that only the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has the plenipotentiary to admit students into higher institutions in the country.
A strong worded statement issued by the Director, Press and Public Relations, in the ministry, Mr. Ben Goong, stated that any institution that acted against the directive would have itself to blame.
