Zenith Bank denies sponsoring Fayole's election again

Abuja - The Zenith Bank has again denied sponsoring the governorship campaign of Gov Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State in 2014, reports Punch
Fayose had claimed that his campaign was funded by the bank and a few private individuals.
The bank had earlier denied Fayose's claim but later went to beg him.

But the Managing Director of bank, Peter Amangbo has again told the Economic and financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that the bank did not sponsor Fayose's governorship campaign, contrary to the governor’s claim.
Amangbo told the EFCC that the bank had only one branch in Ekiti State, wondering why the bank would invest in Fayose when the state government had no account with the bank.
He denied ever meeting with Fayose and his friend, Agbele.
He further stated that at no time did Fayose and the chairman of the bank, Jim Ovia, and himself hold a meeting.
Governor Ayodele Fayose stuck by his claims that Zenith Bank majorly funded his election and has challenged the bank to come out with an official statement after sources within the bank denied his claims

Sources within Zenith Bank News24 Nigeria reported, denied that they funded any campaign and said that it just handled money from the office of the National Security Advisor.

The Governor stated that he would like an official statement from the bank so that he could initiate the second stage of his revelations, condemning the bank and the media for acting on hearsay.
