NFF, FIFA remember Yekini four years after

Four years after his death, the Nigerian Football Federation and world football governing body FIFA have paid tribute to the Super Eagles’ greatest goalscorer Rasheed Yekini.
Yekini, who died on May 4, 2012, scored 37 goals for the Super Eagles including Nigeria’s first goal at the World Cup.
Tweets by the NFF about the late striker using the hashtag #WeRememberYekini elicited tribute from many other Nigerians, who in turn recalled the Yekini’s finest moments and the impact the Eagles had during his time.
To mark the fourth anniversary of his passing FIFA on its part looked back on his career “his memorable goal and subsequent celebration” at the 1994 World Cup.

“The photo of the 58-time Nigeria international captivated the world and even today the former striker, who in 1993 was the first Nigerian to be voted African Footballer of the Year, remains a respected figure in the global football family,” it said.
It also quoted comments made by former FIFA President, Sepp Blatter after he learnt of Yekini’s death.
“Rasheed Yekini was one of the best players at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA. Against Bulgaria he scored Nigeria’s first ever FIFA World Cup goal, a strike that will earn him a place in the annals of Nigerian football. He will be sorely missed,” Blatter was quoted as saying.
Some Nigerians, however, felt the NFF should have done more to honour him while he was alive.

A suspected fake army captain, George Edem, has been arrested in the Ikeja area of Lagos State after he allegedly tried to secure the release of an impounded motorcycle.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Edem, who walked into the office of the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit in Alausa on Tuesday, allegedly harassed policemen on duty and was ushered in to see the task force chairman.
Our correspondent gathered that during interrogation by the task force chairman, SP Yinka Egbeyemi, Edem produced an identity card which was discovered to be fake and he was thereafter arrested.
It was learnt that the suspect, who said he resided at Intelligent Quarters, Nigerian Army Cantonment, Ojo, claimed that he was attached to the cantonment before he was discovered to be an impersonator.
Speaking to the police, Edem said he had been impersonating an army captain for eight years, adding that poverty forced him into the act.
He said, “I collect money from people who have cases with the police and customs officials. I have been doing it for eight years. I have also been to some Divisonal Police Officers in Lagos. I came for the release of an impounded tricycle in the task force office.”
A police source at the task force said, “The fake army captain harassed both policemen and paramilitary officers at the task force office. He demanded to see the chairman as a matter of urgency.

Has YOUR account been hacked? Hundreds of millions of passwords stolen from Google and Yahoo users in major security breach

  • Hack found by Alex Holden, founder of Wisconsin-based Hold Security
  • Claims 272.3 million stolen accounts details are being traded in Russia
  • They include details of Google, Yahoo Microsoft and Mail.ru email users
  • Hackers may use passwords to access other accounts of the same user

If you have a Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo email account, you may want to update your password.
A new report has found that Russia's criminal underworld is trading hundreds of millions of stolen usernames and passwords belonging to these accounts.
This is according to a Reuters investigation, which spoke to Alex Holden, founder and chief information security officer of Wisconsin-based Hold Security.

Russia's Mail.ru email service accounts for the majority of hacked accounts.
Researchers discovered 57 million account details being traded in Russia.
A large number also belong to Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo Mail users.
Yahoo Mail credentials totaled 40 million, or 15 per cent of the haul.
Hotmail accounted for 33 million, which equaled 12 per cent of the leak
And 24 million, or nine per cent, belonged to Gmail account holders.
There is currently no way to know if your details are on the list of threatened accounts.
Mail.ru is now checking whether any combinations of usernames/passwords match users' e-mails and are still active.
It will warn users if they are at risk.
Yahoo and Google did not respond to requests for comment.
Holden,  who last year uncovered the largest data breach to date, claims that the details of 272.3 million stolen accounts are now being traded.
They include the majority of users of Mail.ru, Russia's most popularemail service, and smaller fractions of Google, Yahoo and Microsoft email users.
It is one of the biggest stashes of stolen credentials to beuncovered since cyber attacks hit major US banks and retailerstwo years ago.
The latest discovery came after Hold Security researchersfound a young Russian hacker bragging in an online forum.
The hackers said hehad collected and was ready to give away a far larger number ofstolen credentials that ended up totalling 1.17 billion records.
Because he or she vacuumed up data from many sources, researchers have dubbed him 'The Collector'.
After eliminating duplicates, Holden said, the cachecontained nearly 57 million Mail.ru accounts - a big chunk ofthe 64 million monthly active email users Mail.ru said it had atthe end of last year.
It also included tens of millions ofcredentials for the world's three big email providers, Gmail,Microsoft and Yahoo, plus thousands of accounts atGerman and Chinese email providers.

This information is potent,' said Holden, the former chief security officer at U.S. brokerage R.W. Baird.
'It is floating around in theunderground and this person has shown he's willing to give thedata away to people who are nice to him.'
Mysteriously, the hacker asked just 50 roubles - less than$1 - for the entire trove.

Avoid favourite sports. ‘Baseball’ and ‘football’ were both in the top 10 worst password list.
Birthdays and years of birth are easy to guess with the help of personal information.
Common names such as Michael and Jennifer are insecure, with many making SplashData’s Top 50 list, too.
Experts suggest using eight mixed types of characters, with seemingly random combinations if possible.
They say that passphrases – short words with spaces or other characters separating them – are easy to recall and are relatively secure if seemingly random words are used.
Experts also advise having different passwords for different sites, instead of relying on one, which if hacked, could prove particularly serious.
However, he gave up the dataset after Holdresearchers agreed to post favourable comments about him inhacker forums, Holden said.
He said his company's policy is torefuse to pay for stolen data.
Such large-scale data breaches can be used to engineerfurther break-ins or phishing attacks by reaching the universeof contacts tied to each compromised account.
This multiplies therisks of financial theft or reputational damage across the web.
Hackers know users cling to favourite passwords, resistingadmonitions to change credentials regularly and make them morecomplex.
It's why attackers reuse old passwords found on oneaccount to try to break into other accounts of the same user.
After being informed of the potential breach of emailcredentials, Mail.ru spokeswoman Madina Tayupova told Reuters:'We are now checking, whether any combinations ofusernames/passwords match users' e-mails and are still active.
'As soon as we have enough information we will warn theusers who might have been affected,' she said.
Tayupova addedthatMail.ru's initial checks found no live combinations of usernamesand passwords which match existing emails.
A Microsoft spokesman said stolen online credentials was anunfortunate reality.
'Microsoft has security measures in placeto detect account compromise and requires additional informationto verify the account owner and help them regain sole access.'

Yahoo and Google did not respond to requests for comment.
Yahoo Mail credentials numbered 40 million, or 15 percent ofthe 272 million unique IDs discovered.
Meanwhile, 33 million, or12 percent, were Microsoft Hotmail accounts and 9 percent, ornearly 24 million, were Gmail, according to Holden.
Thousands of other stolen username/password combinationsappear to belong to employees of some of the largest U.S.banking, manufacturing and retail companies, he said.
Stolen online account credentials are to blame for 22percent of big data breaches, according to a recent survey of325 computer professionals by the Cloud Security Alliance.
In 2014, Holden, a Ukrainian-American who specialises inEastern European cyber crime threats, uncovered a cache of 1.2billion unique credentials that marked the world's biggest-everrecovery of stolen accounts.
His firm studies cyber threats playing out in the forums andchatrooms that make up the criminal underground, speaking tohackers in their native languages while developing profiles ofindividual criminals.
Holden said efforts to identify the hacker spreading thecurrent trove of data or the source or sources of the stolenaccounts would have exposed the investigative methods of hisresearchers.
Ten days ago, Hold Security began informingorganisations affected by the latest data breaches.
Thecompany's policy is to return data it recovers at little or nocost to firms found to have been breached.
'This is stolen data, which is not ours to sell,' saidHolden.

We’ve verified Buhari, Osinbajo, Saraki’s assets –CCB

The Code of Conduct Bureau said on Wednesday that it had completed the verification of the assets declared to it by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo; the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and other top government officials in the current dispensation.
The Head, Press and Protocol Unit of the bureau, Mohammed Idris, said this in a statement debunking a newspaper publication in which it was claimed that the verification of the assets of President Buhari and other government officials by the CBB was still ongoing.
Idris, an assistant director in the bureau, said the newspaper publication was a trick targeted at undermining ongoing trials before the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
Saraki is currently undergoing trial before the CCT on 16 counts including false asset declaration.
The statement, titled ‘Re: CCB still verifying Buhari, Osinbajo, Saraki’s, others’assets,’ added that under President Buhari’s administration, the CCB had been recording increased level of compliance to asset declaration by public officials.
The statement read in part, “The bureau wishes to inform the general public that it has since concluded the verification of assets declared by those mentioned in the said publication.
“Therefore, the said publication is another trick to misinform the public so as to undermine the ongoing trials of cases of false declaration of assets before the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
“It could be observed that since the inception of the present administration under President Muhammadu Buhari, the rate of compliance by public officials in responding to assets declaration has greatly increased.
“The bureau will like to use this medium to appeal to those who are yet to declare their assets to visit  the Asokoro, Head Office of No 23, Halle Salasi  Street  Asokoro, Abuja to collect, fill and submit same to the office.”

'I would love to have children': Prince Harry admits he is eager to

'I would love to have children': Prince Harry admits he is eager to start a family someday but says for now he wants to be a 'fun uncle' to Prince George and Princess Charlotte

  • The 31-year-old said he's thought in the past about starting a family but ultimately changed his mind
  • He didn't indicate whether he had those thoughts while dating ex-girlfriends Chelsy Davy or Cressida Bonas
  • Prince Harry is in Orlando for the Invictus Games, an Olympic-style competition for wounded war veterans
  • He hopes to go to Disney World, but added that fairy-tale culture makes kids disappointed to meet him because he doesn't wear a crown and cape

While these days he's still mostly content with being the 'fun uncle', Prince Harry would definitely like to have kids some day.
But when exactly 'some day' will fall is still up in the air. At 31, the single royal likely won't be starting a family in the immediate future, but he admitted that in the past, he thought seriously about making babies.
'I'd love to have children. There have been moments through life, especially when we do a tour abroad, when I think, "I'd love to have kids now."' he told People magazine in their May 16 cover story.

'I dig being around kids. I just have fun. You never know what they're going to say.'
'Lucky me, I have got a few godchildren I absolutely adore.'
Although Harry was not asked to be a godfather to either his niece or nephew - news which came as a surprise to some - he is godparent to the son of his former nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke, Fred, who is now 14.
But while he may not be a godparent to George and Charlotte, Harry admitted that he delights in playing the role of uncle - and hopes that he will continue to have a strong presence in their lives for many years to come.
'George and Charlotte will grow up and hopefully find me to be the fun uncle. I always want to be the fun uncle,' he added.
And for now, it seems, being the fun uncle is enough for him to get his kid fix.
'There's been times I've been put off having children,' he went on. 'I've got a couple of mates and being around their children brings me back down. There's no rush, we've got plenty of time.'
Plus, he added, he can always hang out with his friends' kids when he starts to feel old and out of touch — something that isn't helped much by the fact that they can now 'kick his arse' at video games.
