Update! EFCC secures conviction for former female banker involved in N41m theft ...photo

The EFCC today, November 14, 2016 secured the conviction of Yagana Ibrahim Bukar A.K.A Aisha Shettima Noor before Honourable Justice Fatu Riman of the Federal High Court Kano. The convict was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on October 23, 2013 on a ten count charge bordering on Forgery and Obtaining under false pretense.

Upon arraignment, Yagana pleaded not guilty and trial commenced, but after PW1, a staff of Skye Bank provided evidence against her , the convict absconded and the case suffered eight adjournment.

On October 3, 2014, the Federal High Court issued an order forfeiting all the attached properties belonging to Yagana. The assets include various sums of money stashed in three different bank accounts, a Honda Accord car with registration No. BD 496 NSR, a Toyota Matrix Car with registration No. FGE 122 AE and a Shop with goods situated at Badawa Layout, Kano.

On the 9th of June, 2016, the prosecution applied under section 352(4) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015 for a trial in absencia which was granted by the court.
After the application to try in absencia was granted, the prosecution counsel, Mohammed Sadisu Abubakar called one more witness and tendered a total of eleven exhibits.
PW2, the investigation officer of the case, Hammaadama Bello in his evidence informed the court that the commission received a petition from the nominal complainant, Azman Oil and that the petition alleged that Yagana had stolen over N41,000,000 from the account of the complainant which she was the account officer.

It was also discovered during investigation, that Yagana used her position as account officer to the complainant to launder the sum of N12, 626, 250 out of the N41,000,000 she stole from the customer's account. She perpetrated the scam by posting the sum into three Sky Bank accounts belonging to her family members- Hajja Fanna, her sister; Grema Ibrahim Bukar, her brother and her child, Ummu Kulthum.
In order to further conceal the illicit origin of the money, the convict used part of the money to open a provision store in the Kawo area of Kano Metropolis.
PW2 also revealed that the convict had doctored an account statement which she often presented to the complainant almost on monthly basis. The witness also revealed that CCTV footage also showed instances when the convict was transporting money out of the Bank.

The convict is also awaiting arraignment before the Kano State High Court in a sister case.

In his judgment, Justice Riman held that the prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and therefore found Yagana guilty as charged. He convicted her on each of the ten count charge brought against her by the EFCC. However by virtue of section 352(5) of ACJA 2015, Justice Riman reserved sentencing of the convict until January 30, 2017 pending her arrest.

Donald Trump to work for free as US President, rejects his $1.8m Salary

The United States of America's president-elect, Mr. Donald Trump, has said he will not accept any salary for being president when he is in the White House.

Prior to his election, Trump has said he won't “take one dollar” of the $400,000 presidential salary.

Speaking at an event in September last year, he told a crowd in New Hampshire: “The first thing I’m going to do is tell you that if I’m elected president, I’m accepting no salary, okay? That’s not a big deal for me.”

He reiterated same in a Twitter Q&A later. When a follower asked: “Will you forgo the presidential salary if elected?” To which he replied: “As far as the salary is concerned - I won’t take even one dollar. I am totally giving up my salary if I become president.”

During his campaign, he made much of his claims that as a rich businessman he is not bound to the bidding of financial backers. Mr Trump is worth an estimated net $3.7 billion, according to Forbes.

Previous wealthy presidents have donated their salaries to charity after deeming it is not financially necessary for them to take it as personal income.

Herbert Hoover and John F Kennedy both reportedly donated the salary to charity.

Must read!!! Donald Trump speaks extensively in first Tv interview, reveals what he intends to do ...

Donald Trump envisioned an America in which women would have to travel to a different state to get an abortion in his first televised interview as president-elect.

CBS' 60 Minutes host Lesley Stahl grilled him about potential Supreme Court appointees, accusations that his supporters have harassed African-Americans, Latinos, Muslims and gay people, and whether he would appoint a special prosecutor to go after the Clintons like he has pledged.

During the interview, which aired in full on Sunday, Trump confirmed his intention to build a wall on the border with Mexico - although he conceded it might be a fence in some places - and pledged to deport two to three millions undocumented immigrants whom he believes have criminal records.

The one-hour conversation, taped at his penthouse apartment inside Trump Tower, touched on a wide range of topics giving a first glimpse of what Trump's presidency might look like. Please ENJOY!

Stahl asked whether Trump would appoint a Supreme Court justice who would overturn Roe v Wade, the 1973 decision that made abortion legal across the United States and invalidated state laws restricting access to the procedure.

Trump pledged to appoint pro-life justices and said he was himself pro-life. He then predicted that, should Roe v Wade be overturned, abortion would become a states' rights issue again.

This means women would be able to get abortions in certain states, but would be prevented from doing so in other states - as has not been the case in 43 years.

'But then some women won't be able to get an abortion?' Stahl asked.

'Yeah, well, they'll perhaps have to go, they'll have to go to another state,' Trump replied.

When Stahl pressed him further, asking whether this status quo was okay, he added: 'Well, we'll see what happens.

'It's got a long way to go, just so you understand. That has a long, long way to go.'

Trump will have to appoint at least one Supreme Court justice, Antonin Scalia's replacement. Given
the ages of the current justices, he could have to appoint four in total during his presidency.

The president-elect said he was 'fine' with same-sex marriage remaining as the law of the land and insisted the issue had already been settled by the Supreme Court.

Trump wouldn't say whether he supported marriage equality but said it was irrelevant to question his stance because same-sex marriage has already been entered into law.

'It's done. It - you have - these cases have gone to the Supreme Court. They've been settled. And I'm - I'm fine with that,' he said.

Trump dodged a question about whether he would actually appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Hillary Clinton's use of a private server - a promise he made during his campaign.

He said he didn't want to hurt the Clintons and called them 'good people'. Trump said he wanted to focus on healthcare and immigration instead of narrowing down on his former opponent - even though thousands of his supporters had called for him to 'lock her up'.

The president-elect declined to say if he would fulfill that promise but said he would give a 'very, very good and definitive answer' on his next 60 Minutes interview with Stahl.

Stahl confronted Trump with allegations made against his supporters.

They have been accused of harassing African Americans, Latinos, Muslims, gay people and of using racial slurs in several instances against the country.

Trump first said he was 'very surprised' to find out about the accusations and that he 'hated' to hear them.

When Stahl asked if he wanted to say anything to his accused supporters, Trump replied: 'I would say don't do it, that's terrible, because I'm going to bring this country together.

She brought up accusations that supporters have harassed Latinos and Muslims and Trump added: 'I am so saddened to hear that. And I say, "Stop it." If it - if it helps. I will say this, and I will say right to the cameras: Stop it.'

Trump refused to say how he intends to get rid of ISIS. He has repeatedly declined to clarify his strategy and during Sunday's interview, as he did during most of his campaign, simply repeated that he and his administration would 'destroy' the terror group.

'You have said that you're going to destroy ISIS. Now, how - how are you going to?' Stahl asked.

'I don't tell you that. I don't tell you that,' Trump replied.

Stahl pressed him, after which he added: 'I'm not going to say anything. I don't want to tell them anything. I don't want to tell anybody anything.'

The president-elect responded to criticism about hiring lobbyists to take care of his transition after pledging repeatedly to drain what was seen as the establishment's swamp.

Trump swore lobbyists were the only people available for hire, adding: 'Everybody's a lobbyist down there.'

'Everything, everything down there-- there are no people-- there are all people that work -- that's the problem with the system, the system,' he continued.

He pledged to 'clean up the system', adding:  'I mean, the whole place is one big lobbyist.'

Trump said he would keep some parts of Obamacare, such as the measure that protects people with pre-existing conditions, which the president-elect called 'one of the strongest assets' of the law.

He then pledged to simultaneously repeal and replace Obamacare.

'It'll be just fine. we're not going to have, like, a two day period and we're not going to have-- a two year period where there's nothing,' he said.

'It will be repealed and replaced. And we’ll know. And it'll be great health care for much less money.'

Trump promised that his Twitter account would change now that he is the next president.

'I'm going to do very restrained, if I use it at all, I'm going to do very restrained,' he said.

He praised social media for helping his campaign.

'I think it helped me win all of these races where they're spending much more money than I spent,' Trump said.

'I think that social media has more power than the money they spent, and I think maybe to a certain extent, I proved that.'

Trump predicted he and his administration wouldn't be 'very big on vacations because there was 'so much work to be done'.
He said he wouldn't take the $400,000 presidential salary. I think I have to by law take $1, so I'll take $1 a year,' Trump added.

Trump believes those who are afraid of him are only afraid because they don't know him. He said some protesters were professionals - a claim he also made on Twitter Friday, the day the interview was taped.

When Stahl asked what he would say to those demonstrating against him, Trump replied: 'Don't be afraid. We are going to bring our country back. But certainly, don't be afraid. You know, we just had an election and sort of like you have to be given a little time.

'I mean, people are protesting. If Hillary had won and if my people went out and protested, everybody would say, "Oh, that's a terrible thing." And it would have been a much different attitude. There is a different attitude. You know, there is a double standard here.'

A 14 year old boy finds 6-week-old baby girl left crying in shoe box ...photo

Franklin Ulloa, a 14-year-old boy was watching TV at home when he heard the cries of a baby on the back porch of their Long Island home, shortly before 9 p.m. police said Saturday. He quickly called his parents who saw the newborn baby crying in a shoe box.

Zenith Bank reportedly sacks John Edobor, who is charged with attempted murder of his wife ...photo

According to one of Ivie Edobor's lawyers, Emeka Ugwuonye, Zenith Bank has fired Mr John Edobor, who is currently standing trial for the attempted murder of of his estranged wife. The accused and some hired thugs stormed Ivie's home and attacked the mother of three, leaving her with broken legs. The activist broke the news earlier today on his Facebook Page,The  Due Process Advocate. What he wrote below:

"This is to inform the members of DPA that I just received a call from a top official of Zenith Bank to inform me that Mr. John Edobor has been fired from Zenith Bank. They made it clear to me that the reason they did so was because of the domestic violence he committed on his estranged wife, Ivie. The call was in response to the email I sent to Zenith two days ago indicating that DPA would commence a protest on the matter. We appreciate the fact that Zenith has reached out to us. This is an important first step that Zenith has taken. We shall continue the dialogue and negotiation today to see if we can reach an agreement that will avoid the protest that is planned tomorrow. Thank you to all DPA members who have given their support to this effort. God bless you all. And please stay tuned. All we want is justice of this lady. She is somebody's daughter. She is somebody's mother. And above all, she is our sister and a Member of DPA. Once you are a registered member of DPA, we shall do everything to protect you when you face challenges. We must protect Ivie Edobor and her children. It is an obligation on us."
Two years ago Mr Edobor kicked Ivie out of his house along with her 3 daughters ages 9, 7 and 4 on the grounds that her business failed and ran into debt.
"He moved in with his lover at the time, who is a divorcee with a female child and my husband said she would give him a boy since i gave him 3 children who are just girls. He snapped a picture with both of them on our matrimonial bed and used it as his whatsapp dp and also posted it on facebook barely a few months after he kicked us out. I was forced to move back to my father's house and struggled to provide for my 3 children as he completely neglected them and even took them of his medical insurance provided by his office Zenith Bank Plc. After much struggle, I finally got back on my feet. Got a great job, enrolled my kids in a new school and rented an apartment for my 3 kids and I. About Easter time this year he decides he wants to be part of my children's life again. I allowed him access to the children as I felt we could be civil to each other for the sake of our children. At this time I had started putting my documentation together for the divorce process. Early hours of June 19th on my way back from my dad's birthday party a friend had parked right in front of the gate of my apartment to press the bell for the gateman to open the gate and let me into the compound when suddenly he was rushed at and attacked by a man waving an object. I looked out the opened door and realized it was John Edobor my enstranged husband. He dragged me out of the car and used a metal crowbar to violently hit my right leg which led to broken bone and temporary loss of using this leg."

Shocking! Man stabs 4 family members over Hillary Clinton's defeat ...photo

A 49-year-old man who was upset that Donald Trump won the presidential stabbed four of his family members with a meat cleaver on Saturday, during an argument on why Hillary Clinton lost the election, police said.

Their mum, 67 year old Yvonne Braswell, said the argument started in her Flatbush apartment when her sons, Maurice and Dwight, got into an argument over why Trump won and Hillary lost.

She said neither Maurice nor Dwight voted for Trump, but that the argument escalated and Maurice grabbed a meat cleaver and attacked his brother with it. He slashed his brother in the head and hand. When other family members tried to break up the fight, they ended up getting cut up as well. His sister got cut in the fight and had to get 17 stitches in her thumb, his mum and nephew also got cut in the right hand.

Braswell said:
"They're always in confrontation, they grew up like that, bickering. “But it's been a long time since they went this far. Many, many years.”

Dreams of new lives in Europe turn sex slave nightmares for Nigeria's trafficked women ...

Hundreds of Nigerian women land on the shores of Europe every month, their heads full of dreams of new lives in Europe. In reality, many of them are destined for years of sexual slavery.
And in Italy’s migrant-saturated southern ports, prising these young Nigerian girls away from their traffickers is a formidable challenge. With each new landing of migrants rescued at sea, the well-worn processing procedures have an almost ritualistic aspect to them: a first identification interview, cuddly toys for the children and a specialist from the International Organization for Migration paying particular attention to any young women.

Nigerian females have been landing in Italy in significant numbers since the 1980s, lured by the promise of jobs only to find themselves with colossal debts to the traffickers who got them here.

The trade has exploded in recent years. According to IOM figures, 433 Nigerian women arrived in 2013, 1,454 in 2014, 5,653 last year and 7,768 in the first nine months of 2016.
"We estimate that between 70 and 80 percent of them are in danger of being forced into prostitution," said the IOM’s Luca Pianese, adding that the numbers do not include hundreds of minors.
Some of the women will end up working on the streets of Italy, others in France, Spain, Austria or other European countries where demand seems to grow incessantly.

Pianese, who works as part of a 13-strong team that includes two women of Nigerian origin, has learned how to spot the signs that newly arrived women have been trafficked.

Most of the victims come from Edo state in southern Nigeria, they invariably have had only the most basic education and say they can remember little about how they got from Nigeria to the Mediterranean. Usually the women have a phone number they have been told to call when they arrive. Sometimes they will be accompanied by a minder.
"You have to separate them from false sisters and pretend husbands," said Pianese. Then comes the painful bit. "They arrive here full of hope, confident they are headed for a better future," the aid worker say. Unfortunately our duty is to smash their dream."
That involves explaining that the future envisaged for these young women involves long hours perched on the edge of out-the-way roads, servicing 10 to 20 clients a day for less than 20 euros (dollars) a time with no guarantee that some of the punters will not be violent.

There is also some positive news to be shared: Italian law guarantees residency rights and social support to women trafficked for prostitution, even if they have not got to the stage of being forced to sell their bodies in Italy.

Despite that, the IOM says barely 300 women accepted such help between the start of 2015 and the end of August. According to Nigerian nun Monica Chikwe, who coordinates a network of safe houses for trafficked African women, that is not surprising.

In Nigeria, "no one tells the truth" and when they hear about Europe "all the girls can see are sequins", she says.

For many, abuse and violence starts en route, in particular in Libya. Yet a degree of gratitude persists alongside fear of the people smugglers who, after all, have delivered on their promise to get them to Europe.

Even those women savvy enough to suspect that all might not be as it has been presented to them have little idea of the violence that awaits them — or how hard it will be for them to repay the debts they have incurred. Typically this will be between 20,000 and 50,000 euros (dollars).

"These are sums way above what other migrants have paid," says Maurizio Scalia, a public prosecutor in Palermo in Sicily who has been helping to track down individual traffickers and now wants to expand the scope of his investigation to “get a picture of the whole system"

Adding to the problems involved in smashing the smugglers’ business model is the fact that many of the victims have taken part in voodoo ceremonies before they leave Nigeria and fear reprisals against their families if they do not pay back their debts.

As a result, most of them will maintain a stony silence until they reach reception centres, where traffickers will come to find them. In such cases, all the IOM can do is give them an emergency number they can call at any time.

Sometimes it works. Earlier this month Sicilian police were able to liberate a young Nigerian who had landed on October 24 and dialled for help after being kidnapped by three of her compatriots and told she would have to prostitute herself to reimburse 30,000 euros.

The toll-free number received some 150 calls in 2015 and the first half of this year.
Faced with the sharp increase of young women confronting the same plight, the Italian government recently allocated 15 million euros to establish specialist reception centres. They are already nearly all full.

Photo of an alleged rapist who hid in a ceiling after assaulting a woman to avoid being caught by the police...

An alleged rapist, Seksan Parinyaseri, went to the extreme to avoid being arrested by the police by hiding under the roof of an apartment in Thailand after sexually assaulting a woman in her apartment. 21 year-old Seksan was said to have knocked on the door of two Vietnamese women after one of them stepped out to make a phone call around 3am in the night on Friday and forced his way into the room, he allegedly locked the door from the inside and assaulted the second woman.

According to MailOnline, suspect Seksan, fearing capture after hearing the two women call police for help, climbed inside the ceiling through one of the loose panels to hide himself after efforts to unlock the entrance to his exit failed.
When police arrived at the Bangkok residence he was spotted inside the roof but refused to come down - and kept scampering to different areas above the room. Cops had to poke different square ceiling tiles with a stick until he was eventually cornered and fell through the ceiling. XX Seksan was arrested by the police and charged with attempted rape, evading arrest and breaking into a private home.
