RIP: Pathetic Story Of Old-Time Socialite, Danku; -How He Fell On Bad Times

RIP Danku Baba Imole.

What a sad day!
In the 90s, Femi Lekuti, widely known as Danku baba Imole was a hot item on the social scene. He was the toast of top Yoruba musisians, especially K1 De Ultimate who sang a hot number that still remains a popular anthem till today for him back then. Danku rocked the scene till early 2000s. The one time big-spender is ow tasting the other side of life, as things have gone bad for him. The case of the old-time socialite has become pathetic as he is now on the sick bed, battling stroke.

Ijebu-born Femi Lekuti was a name that commanded respect some decades ago and not many socialites and fuji music fans can easily forget the mention ‘danku ara wa ni, ijinle pam pam!’ K.1’s popular personal number for him.
At the moment, Danku is not enjoying the best of health and he is calling out to his friends for help. An online news portal, www.papermacheonline.com broke the story few days ago that Lekuti has suffered stroke.
This is coming on the heels of CityScoop’s recent checks that revealed how Danku, who used to be one of the biggest money-bags then, now lives a pathetic life, almost in penury. He has relocated to Ibadan, around Apata area, where he has been laying low for a couple of years now. Sources revealed to us how, Danku had been struggling to keep his life together, but has remained strong-willed. According to the sources, at every opportunity when he steps out in his area, he doesn’t hesitate to remind anyone who cares to listen, how he used to rock parties back then and how he used to lavish money.
In a phone conversation with papermacheonline, Lekuti confirmed ‘yes, I’m battling stroke which has left part of my body in paralysis, right now I’m in Abeokuta where I was directed to seek traditional cure. Please reach my friends, tell them to help, I don’t want to die’.
His battle with sickness reportedly started some years ago and he had incurred a lot of bills which left him with little option than to sell his properties.
To all that know him in his days, ‘Baba Imole’ was a kind man that could give all he had to help his friends.
