Residents of Abuja, Cross River and Adamawa states paid the highest bus journey fare within city in January, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), has said. The NBS transport fare watch for January listed Borno, Yobe, Bauchi and Bayelsa as the states with lowest bus journey fare within city. The highest fares are Abuja (N290.55), Cross River (N210) and Adamawa (N200) while lowest bus fares were Borno (N50), Yobe (N65) and Bauchi/Bayelsa (N70).
The categories covered in the report are bus journey within the city per drop constant route, bus journey intercity, state route, charge per person; air fare charge for specified routes single journey; journey by motorcycle (okada) per drop; and water way passenger transport. Akwa Ibom, Abia and Edo states had the highest fares for motorcycle (okada) journey and those with lowest fares are Plateau, Ekiti and Kaduna states. States with the highest waterway passenger fares are Bauchi, Delta and Cross River while the lowest are Borno, Gombe and Abuja. For air travel, the states with highest fares are Edo, Adamawa and Delta and those with lowest fares are Katsina, Kaduna and Kebbi.
