2019 Elections: Don’t vote for politicians above 60 years –Catholic bishop lailasnewsMost Revd Paulinus Ezeokafor, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Anambra State in his statement which described politicians above 60 as “burden on the growth and development of the country”, advised Nigerians not to vote of politicians above 60.The Catholic Bishop who wondered why Politicians that old would still be contesting in elections, said they ought to have quit active politics at such an age.
“I can’t understand why retirees would want to seek political offices. Such people are a burden to growth. “I urge Nigerians to stop electing such people. 2019 is crucial in our history. We should vote wisely; we should avoid voting for retirees” he said.
Most Revd Paulinus Ezeokafor who further advised Nigerians not to sell their votes in 2019 general elections, urged christians to ensure active participation during the 2019 general election and not sit back at home just to talk against the government.
The Catholic Bishop who lauded the move by Economic Financial Crimes Commission and Independent National Electoral Commission, to check excessive spending by politicians during elections, said Christians were entrusted with the responsibility of taking the lead in positive directions, tasking them to eschew nonchalant attitude.
This is coming after a Nigerian man identified as Umar Pai on Facebook, threatened to commit suicide if President Buhari fails to contest in 2019 election.
He wrote on Facebook;
Ready to commit suicide if President Buhari fail to stand for re-election come 2019
Recall that former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon,who reacted to open letter written by the former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Channels TV as a guest, joined those campaigning and asking President Buhari to run for second term.
According to Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon who disagreed with some of the points raised by Obasanjo in his letter, the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration has performed well enough to deserve a second term.
