A gunman who shot a father dead over an argument about parking space at a Florida convenience store has avoided charges under the state’s Stand Your Ground Law.
Michael Drejka shot and killed Markeis McGlockton after allegedly starting a feud with McGlockton’s girlfriend over a parking spot. According to Reuters, the girlfriend, Brittany Jones, was sitting inside a car which was parked in a handicapped parking space. Drejka took issue with the car being parked there without a handicapped permit and decided to
approach Jones on the matter. The two then reportedly got into a shouting match.

Moments later, surveillance footage shows McGlockton, who was in the store with the couples son, approaching and pushing Drejka. Within seconds Drejka is seen pulling out a gun and shooting McGlockton at point blank range. McGlockton later died from his injuries.

Drejka will not be charged for the fatal shooting under the state's Stand Your Ground Law and this does not sit well with McGlockton's girlfriend and she is begging for answers.
"I could have been killed. My kids could have been killed," Jacobs told ABC. "I need justice, and this is not right at all. How is this 'stand your ground' law? It's not. It's not, and I need help."

According to Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, Drejka does not deserve to be charged.
"He had to shoot to defend himself. Those are the facts and that is the law," said Gualtieri. "No matter how you slice it or dice it, that was a violent push to the ground."
