Market women are “frying akara with transformer oil, using sniper on dry fish,” this are some of the shocking discoveries a Nigerian scientist shared on Twitter.A Nigerian scientist revealed some shocking discoveries made during an unscheduled visit members of the Nigerian Food Sciences and Technology Institute paid to some markets in the Utako and Garki area in Abuja on Wednesday June 12th.The scientist made some shocking revelations on what market people are now doing. He wrote;

People who fry akara, puff-puff, yam, meat, fish, etc., use transformer oil mixed with vegetables or groundnut oil to fry the stuff. Ariel detergent is used to ferment cassava for fufu, fish sellers spray sniper on dry fish to keep flies out.
In our abbatoir, tyres and used plastics are used to roast slaughtered animals which are sold in the market. Please avoid food cooked outside your home if you can.Another user of the platform claims not only do market people frying akara with transformer oil, they also use condemned engine oil as well.
