Shooting victims refuse to meet with Donald Trump

Shooting victims refuse to meet with Donald TrumpVictims of the El Paso mass shooting have all declined to meet with the country's president, Donald Trump.

Eight people who are still in hospital after being shot by white supremacist, Patrick Crusius, all said they do not want to meet with Trump.

Following the killing of 31 people in a mall in El Paso, Texas, Trump flew there with his wife but wasn't welcomed by residents and victims.

A spokesman for the University Medical Center said: "This is a very sensitive time in their lives. Some of them said they didn’t want to meet with the president. Some of them didn’t want any visitors."

Mr Trump’s motorcade passed El Paso protesters holding signs that read, "Racist Go Home".

The president - who spent part of his flight between Ohio and Texas airing his grievances on Twitter, berating Democratic legislators, Mr O’Rourke and the press - has refered to his critics as political people.

"My critics are political people," he said while reacting to accusations that his own words have contributed to a combustible climate that has spawned death and other violence.
