A 29-year-old pastor is reportedly cooling his heels at the Ebonyi state police command after reportedly luring a female member and molesting her.
According to The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the pastor, identified as David Ibe, committed the assault on Miss Nnenaya Okute, a member of his congregation
The Ebonyi police command’s image maker, George Okafor, confirmed the arrest, noting that the pastor is the clergy in charge of Christ Command Mission, Onicha-Igboeze, Onicha LGA of Ebonyi, and that the said offence was allegedly committed on February 27.
Okafor explained that the said pastor lured the victim to an uncompleted building at Umuobunna Uburu and defiled her, adding “the suspect is an impostor who is among those claiming to be pastor but dent God’s image through their atrocities.
“He has been arrested and has confessed to committing the crime, though he claimed that she refused to marry him after investing heavily on her. “It is terrible that he choose to rape the girl for refusing to marry him, as he will be used to set example to others who commit such crimes.”
The police spokesperson informed further that investigations into the matter was still ongoing, therefore warned the public to be mindful of “evil men in cassocks.”
In another development, a choirmaster was recently caught with a pastor’s wife in an unnamed hotel in Asaba, the Delta state capital.
The pastor (name withheld) who works in one of the new generation churches in Asaba, made the revelation of how he caught his wife having sex with the church’s choirmaster in the said hotel.
In a conversation with journalists on Thursday, March 3, the unnamed clergyman said there had been reports everywhere about his wife’s acts before he caught them red handed.
