Man 'assaulted by up to four men' outside city centre pub this afternoon

Gardai are investigating an assault on a man on Talbot Street this afternoon.
The man was set upon by up to four men outside a pub in the area.
Two garda cars, a garda van and two gardai on segways arrived on the scene within minutes from nearby Store Street garda station.
One witness told Independent.ie that a man in a black suit initiated the row, and then initially attempted to resist a member of gardai who attempted to apprehend him.
The victim is believed to have been attacked by two men initially, before two more joined in.
He is not said to have needed major treatment after the attack.
