Cabin crew and passengers on a China Southern Airlines flight got a big shock on Wednesday morning when a passenger opened the emergency exit before take off – to get some fresh air.

Some 130 passengers faced a delay after the man seeking out a breath of fresh air had accidentally mistaken the handle for the emergency exit as a lever for a window.
The CZ3693 flight was due to fly from Chengdu to Urumqi in China when the incident took place.
The hours delay which resulted saw crew investigate the matter, and saw airport ground staff having to shut the door from the outside and carry out last-minute safety checks.
It’s not known whether the man who opened the door will face charges or whether he will be blacklisted from flying.
It’s the most recent in a spate of incidents which have seen misbehaving passengers cause trouble on flights.
Last January, two passengers opened an emergency exit on a moving plane to protest at a seven hour delay without air conditioning.
Meanwhile, another man was arrested after opening an emergency exit when he mistook it for a toilet door on a KLM flight last September.
