It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain. His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time.
Bourdain who was also a world class chef was in France working on an upcoming episode of his award-winning CNN series “Parts Unknown” when his close friend and French chef, Eric Ripert, found Bourdain unresponsive in his hotel room on Friday morning.
Former US President Barack Obama has taken to Twitter to mourn CNN host Anthony Bourdain who committed suicide today at 61.
Bourdain was in France working on an upcoming episode of his award-winning CNN series
“Parts Unknown” when his close friend Eric Ripert, the French chef, found Bourdain unresponsive in his hotel room on Friday morning.
Obama, who has met and dined, with the CNN host shared a photo of them together and wrote:
“Low plastic stool, cheap but delicious noodles, cold Hanoi beer.” This is how I’ll remember Tony. He taught us about food — but more importantly, about its ability to bring us together. To make us a little less afraid of the unknown. We’ll miss him.
Nigerian singer, Banky W who met the gifted storyteller has mourned his death, reminiscing to the time they sat down together to talk.
Completely stunned by the news of Anthony Bourdain’s passing. Got to sit down with him before our interview, and he shared parts of his story. His rise to success was so inspirational that I’m having a very hard time reconciling that with this news. I pray that God gives his family the strength to bear this loss. I pray we all learn not to take this life for granted. I pray that his life inspires us to realize that we can turn things around and go for our dreams like he did. I pray his death teaches us to take better care of ourselves and others. Depression is very real. Sigh.
