DSS arrests blogger for cloning website for fake recruitment

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested one Sylvester Victor Augustus, a blogger who allegedly cloned its official website to defraud Nigerians through a fake recruitment scheme.

The 32-year-old from Akpan Eno Street in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, was picked by DSS operatives on Thursday, after being tracked to his residence.

According to DSS, the suspect, who claims to be a content creator and graduate of the University of Uyo, created a counterfeit DSS website to falsely advertise a recruitment drive.

The scheme aimed to extort money from individuals under the guise of job applications.

The DSS promptly disclaimed the fake recruitment announcement, describing it as a scam and warning the public to disregard it.

“He will soon be arraigned in court,” a DSS source confirmed to Vanguard on Friday morning in Abuja.
