Shocking! House of rep member claim 20 people owe Nigeria N1.2 trillion

Image result for images of house of rep in nigeria
The chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Media and Publicity; Abdulrazak Namdas disclosed that 20 Nigerians are owing the federal government N1.2 trillion and that recovering that money could help Nigeria to overcome hard times posed by the ongoing recession. Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Abdulrazak said;
“As we all know we are in a recession. AMCON was established between 2007 and 2009 as a response to global financial crisis. The Federal Government through ministry of finance guaranteed a loan that AMCON should raise 5.67 trillion naira, this was to save some of these failing financial institutions at that time, AMCON cannot recover its 2.473 trillion.
This is a time we need this resources and this debt is piling up and people owing this money are still leaving and kicking and infact they don’t appear to have issues, some of them own private jets. If we can invest that money into the economy, it will assist the economy very well and it will interest you to know that out of this 2.4 trillion only 20 individuals have about 1.2 trillion to cough out.”
Earlier, the house of representative mandated its committee on banking and currency to investigate the failure of bank debtors to pay up their loans to the tune of N2.4 trillion. They noted that if these loans are paid by the debtors/obligos, it would enable AMCON to redeem its three years zero coupon.
“The resolution by the house was sequel to a motion on matters of public importance sponsored by Johnbull Shekarau from Plateau state. While moving the motion on the floor, the house said federal government through the ministry of finance and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), had provided the initial capital and a three years zero coupon to allow AMCON raise N 5.67 trillion for intervention. Six years after, AMCON is yet to recover over N2.463 billion from obligos/bank debtors to enable three years zero coupon bond it acquired,” Johnbull said.
The lawmaker added that the inability to recover this amount has serious implication on the economy especially in this recession.

Several lawmakers also contributed to the debate and urged the federal government not to do business with companies owing banks until they have settled their debts, he said.

Update! How Obanikoro airlifted N1.2bn cash for Gov Fayose – Zenith Bank Official

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday called its first prosecution witness before a Federal High Court in Abuja in the trial of an aide of Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, Mr. Abiodun Agbele, who is being prosecuted for money laundering charges.

‎The first prosecution witness, Oluseye Alade, an official of Zenith Bank Plc, gave a breakdown of how the sum of N1.2bn airlifted to Akure by ex-Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro on June 17, 2016, was distributed.

He said he was informed by a colleague of his in Ibadan to wait for the arrival of the aircraft.

The EFCC had on August 3, 2016 arraigned Agbele before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High on 11 counts of money laundering involving about N4,685,723,000,000.

The money was allegedly taken by former National Security Adviser from the account of the office of the NSA domicile in the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The prosecution alleged that on June 17, 2014, Agbele, Obanikoro and other suspects (said to be at large), took N1,219,000,000 from the total N4,685,723,000,000, when they “reasonably ought to have known” that the money was part of proceeds of Dasuki’s unlawful activity.”

Led in evidence by the prosecuting counsel, Mr. Wahab Shittu, the witness who is the Branch Head of the Zenith Bank in Akure gave details of how the N1.2bn was disbursed on the instruction of Agbele.

He said the money was airlifted to Akure by Obanikoro and others in two batches.

He said the money was moved from the airport to the bank by a bullion van on the two occasions of the arrival of the aircraft.

He said, “I first met Agbele on June 17, 2014. On that day, my zonal head, Abiodun Oshode, informed me that he recieved a message from Lawrence Akande, the Zonal Head of Oyo State Branch of Zenith Bank that a customer will be coming to the bank from the airport with cash. He said that I should arrange for our bullion van to be taken to the airport to convey the cash when it arrives.

“After about an hour, Oshode walked to me that the customer is in the bank and I followed him to his office where he introduced Mr. Abiodun Agbele to me as the customer.

“Agbele told me that they had security details and that I should not bother about policemen since they had enough. That was how I, my Zonal Head, the bullion van driver, Agbele and his team drove to the airport.

“When we got to the airport, we waited for some minutes before the aircraft arrived. When the aircraft offloaded its passengers, one of them appeared to me to be Senator Musliu Obanikoro and the other one appeared to be his ADC, Adewale.

“Agbele walked up to them and had a discussion with them. Thereafter, he signaled me to bring the van. Bags loaded with cash were evacuated into the van and Obanikoro’s ADC, I and Agbele drove back to the bank.

“When we got to the bank, we bundle-counted the cash and it was N724,500,000. Agbele told us that more money was still coming and then, Obanikoro’s ADC left for the airport immediately.

“In the evening, all of us left for the airport a second time. After the passengers disembarked, we offloaded the cash bags into our bullion van and drove back to the bank to ascertain how much the cash was.

“The second tranche was N494,990,000, bringing the total about N1.219, 490,000
“We headed straight to our zonal head office where instructions were given by Agbele on how the funds were to be credited to various accounts.

“However, because of the amount involved, we needed to detail-count before crediting the accounts the next day. All these are recorded in the statements I volunteered to the EFCC.”

The four statements earlier made by the witness to EFCC were tendered by the prosecuting counsel and admitted by the court as exhibits.

Akwa Ibom man accuses his children of witchcraft, nails them on the cross in Calabar ...photo

In another gut wrenching and bizarre revelation by the Child's Right And Rehabilitation Network(CRARN)  a 40year old man, John Friday Akpan from Akwa Ibom State, resident in Calabar the Cross River State capital, is now explaining to the police how he heeded the advice of a herbalist, "Dr." Okokon and eventually tagged his two children, Elisha Friday Akpan and Esther Friday Akpan as witches and wizards.

An act reminiscent of the nailing of Jesus Christ on the Cross, Friday Akpan subjected his two children aged, 12 and 6 respectively, to harrowing treatment by nailing them to a plank in shape of a cross and locking them up in a dark, thatch hut without food for weeks. He claimed that the children took his money to their "master in the witchcraft coven and therefore deserve no mercy". He told the police.

Following weeks starvation, the two children whose emaciated and dirty physical appearance replicate the gory images of starving children in famine-ravaged Somalia and war-torn Sudan said they survived by water which was supplied to them by one of the man's kids from another woman.

"Our sister, Peace usually bring us water inside the hut when our father and our mother had gone out". Esther said.

Their father, the kids said, used to reside in Akpabuyo, Cross River State, Nigeria with the family where he sent them to a private school, Regent Nursery and Primary School, Ikot Nkanda but when their mother died and the man took another wife, Iquo, the story changed.

"My mother (stepmother), said the woman who used to live near our house in Akpabuyo gave us food and she put something (witchcraft spell) in the food and when we ate it we changed to bird at night and took our fathers money to 'our master' in the witchcraft world". Elisha who is a JSS one student of Regent said.

According to the kids, Elisha was alleged to have taken 4,000 Naira while Esther took 2,000 Naira and that angered their father and step-mother who started beating them severely and denying them food "because they said we took their money to our master in the witchcraft coven. This is something I don’t even understand"

Shocking! Nigerian troops discover 23 human skulls, skeleton, body parts in militants' shrines in Cross River State ...photo

Troops of Operation DELTA SAFE said it discovered four militant shrines with 23 human skulls in various stages of decomposition, one complete human skeleton, and several other human body parts in Bakassi and Akpabuyo Local Government Areas of Cross River State.

According to official statement issued on Thursday, October 27th by the group’s Acting Commander, Brigadier General Kevin Aligbe, the shrines were destroyed as troops continue the search for the perpetrators of these heinous acts.
In a related development, other troops of the command in Bayelsa State arrested 44 members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) at Lakeview Club on Mabinton Estate, who were planning to establish the Bayelsa State Chapter of the group and disrupt public peace within the Joint Operations Area of Operation DELTA SAFE.
"They were duly arrested and have been handed over to relevant authorities for further investigations. The unity of Nigeria is non–negotiable and sacrosanct. Hence any unlawful gathering that will cause mayhem, threaten the unity and sovereignty of the country will not be condoned."
Brig. General Aligbe said the raid in which the human skulls and remains were found covered Ikot Ene Idem, Abakpa and Ikang Inam in Bakassi and Akpabuyo Local Government Areas of Cross River State, following a tip-off.
"With the clearance of these shrines, the Bakassi Strike Force have effectively been smoked out from the area they used to hold sway. It should be noted that the senseless killing of humans for ritual purposes is sacrilegious and will not be tolerated in any form."
He said troops also arrested two suspects while on patrol at Idebe Ifak Anam, Ikot Okon Edem and Abakpa of Bakassi Local Government Area in Cross River State, with a preliminary investigation revealing them to be agents of Bakassi Strike Force militants.

He further disclosed that last Sunday, following a distress call from Finima in Bonny of an attack by some cult members using AK-47 rifles to terrorize members of the community, troops immediately raided their hideout.
"The suspected kingpin popularly referred to as Eagle Face [dived] into the river on sighting troops. Two of the suspected cult members were arrested; one locally made pistol, one machete, and 2 handsets were recovered."
The body of ‘Eagle Face’ was seen floating in the creeks two days later by locals who recovered and buried it on the Bonny river bank, he said, and efforts are continuing, towards apprehending other members of the group.

While commending members of the public for their cooperation and timely provision of information to troops, Brig. General Aligbe re-assured residents and oil companies operating in the Niger Delta region of their safety and urged them to go about their legitimate businesses.
"Operation DELTA SAFE has the full backing of the Federal Government of Nigeria to bring sanity to the Joint Operation Area within its Rules of Engagement," he said

Mother chains her daughter to a pole for refusing to attend classes...photo

A cruel mum chained her young daughter to a street lamp post as punishment for playing truant from school. The photo shows the tearful eight-year-old child with a metal chain hooked around her ankle and tied to a large metal post. The youngster covered her mouth and looked on with a sad expression after being left there by her raging mother.

Horrified onlookers heard the girl crying in the car park outside the family's apartment on Wednesday afternoon. They tried to free her but the thick chain had been secured with two padlocks - leaving the youngster stuck for over an hour before police arrived.

She told cops that her 30-year-old mum had punished her because she failed to attend mandarin classes at school in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The girl had been locked up for around an hour before neighbours called police, who arrived around ten minutes later and tracked down the mum. The unemployed woman was taken in for questioning and later released.

Meet this 6 yr old girl who lived in the bush for one year to avoid 'witch killers' in Akwa Ibom ..photo

Thousands of stigmatized 'Witch Children' have found refuge at CRARN center, in Akwa Ibom. The children were branded as "witches" by church ministers and have been cast out by their families and shunned by society.

One of them is six-year-old Israel Effiong, from Ikot Uso Ekong, Eket, who was accused of being responsible for his father's illness. Fearing for his life, he ran away and hid in a bush for a year before he was rescued by Edoho,a volunteer with the organisation.
Edoho, himself is former child at CRARN Children Center. He now serves as one of the volunteers who rescue children to the centre.

"When my father became ill and taken to a hospital, my stepmom asked if I knew anything about his illness. I told her that I could not think of anything bad about my father because he's the supporting me," Effiong recounts.

"When his illness took a turn for the worst, my stepmom became angry with me.
In the nights, she'll wake me up, tie my hands and legs then poured wild ants all over my body while asking me to relieve my dad from the witches coven. At times she would tie my hand and legs, began to hit my heads with sticks and electrical wires.
She stopped giving me food and locked me out of the house. I went and told the neighbors living close to us. She said she could not allow me to stay with her because my stepmother will be angry with her.

"The people living around us began to hate me and asked not to come close to their children. I went and slept in the village town hall. One night, some men came and saw me there, they brought me out and asked me to dance as witches. When I told them that I didn't know witches dance, they used sticks and matches to beat me. A man who was passing by came and told them not kill me. They left me and warned me not come there again. I went and stayed in a bush and be coming out in the night to pick up leftover from the market garbage

"One day, I was tired and slept off in the market, a boy by name Edoho came and saw me there and told me he would come back and take me to a safe place where other children like me are living. I told him where I normally stay in the bush.
Yesterday, he came and took me the CRARN Children Center, Eket. I'm very glad to stay here because I would go to school again and sleep without fear of the unknown."

Ghana passes Law 'To Evict Ministers'

Outgoing ministers in Ghana could be forcibly evicted from their official residences if they fail to move out in time, under new laws.

Ministers and other government officials are being given a three-month deadline to hand over state-owned homes and vehicles, from the date of the new president's inauguration.

The law targets presidential appointees who try to cling on to the perks of office after a new leader is elected.

Ghana goes to the polls on 7 December.

After previous transfers of power, some officials have had to be forcibly evicted and had their state-owned vehicles seized after failing to hand them back.

The bill, which was passed by MPs on Wednesday evening, will now go to the president to sign into law.

Existing legislation requires officials to hand back government property after they leave office, but this is the first time a strict time limit has been applied.

Senate proposes five year jail term for randy lecturers

The Senate on Thursday passed a bill to outlaw sexual advances from lecturers to students of tertiary institutions in the country.

Any lecturer found guilty to have broken the law, when passed, will risk a maximum five-year jail term or N5m fine or both.

The Senate also abolished the “consent” defence claim by sexual assault and rape suspects, as contained in the criminal and penal codes.

The bill provides that, “An educator shall be guilty of committing an offence of sexual harassment against a student, if he or she has sexual intercourse with a student who is less than 18 years of age, an imbecile or of generally low mental capacity or blind or deaf or otherwise physically challenged.”

It also categorises it as an offence when such a person “has sexual intercourse with a student or demands for sex from a student or a prospective student as a condition to giving a grade or the granting of honours and scholarships, or the payment of stipend, allowance or other benefits, privileges or considerations.”

The bill further states, “An educator shall be guilty of committing an offence of sexual harassment against a student if he or she solicits sex from or makes sexual advances towards a student when the sexual solicitation or sexual advances result in an intimidating, hostile or offensive environment for the student.

“Or directs or induces another person to commit any act of sexual harassment under this bill, or cooperates in the commission of sexual harassment by another person without which it would not have been committed; grabs or hugs or rubs or strokes or touches or pinches the breasts or hair or lips or buttocks or any other sensual parts of the body of a student.”

“Or displays, gives or sends by hand or courier or electronic (means) or any other means, naked or sexually explicit pictures or videos or sex related objects to a student.

“Or whistles or winks at a student or scream or exclaims or jokes or makes sexually complimentary or uncomplimentary remarks about a student’s physique.”

The “Bill for an Act to Make Provision for the Prohibition and Punishment of Sexual Harassment of Students by Educators in Tertiary Educational Institutions and for Related Matters” was sponsored by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (Delta-Central).

Omo-Agege, while addressing journalists after the bill was passed, described it as a landmark for wives, daughters and women generally.

He said, “You will recall that immediately I get into the Senate, the first and major bill I sponsored was a bill to prohibit sexual harassment of students in our tertiary institutions. We had a reason for doing that.

“We did that because we felt that this menace had been there for so long and it had gone unchecked, but we have had our daughters, our sisters, our nieces and wives and students who have been harassed and nothing was done.”

Update! Mariah Carey claims billionaire fiance, James Packer is mentally unstable and violent

Image result for images of mariah carey and her fiance
Mariah Carey who has confirmed her break up with now former fiancĂ© James Packer, claims he is not in his right mind. According to various online reports the last time the couple was together was at their last vacation on a yacht in Greece which was a couple of months ago.

Mariah Carey's sources claim that the last straw for the relationship was when he got "violent" a month ago towards her assistant on the boat, and that sent her packing.
The sources also claim that James Packer went crazy on one of Mariah's dancers, choreographer-Bryan Tanaka, whom he suspected was making moves on Mariah Carey.
Mariah sources think James got suspicious of Bryan after she gave Bryan a lap dance during a May performance in South Africa.
At one of Mariah's show in June, Bryan who wasn't dancing that night due to an injury showed up and Packer wasn't happy about that.
Packer pulled Bryan into a room to have a discussion with him which turned out into a yelling matching between the two.
According to TMZ:
We're told Packer was so crazed he used his casino ties -- he owns several in Australia and Asia -- to get Tanaka banned from Caesar's Palace, where MC performs. This photo of Bryan was circulated to security. We're told Mariah didn't make a fuss because Bryan, who was nursing a knee injury, wasn't dancing. Mariah sources say she feared Packer. As we've reported, she thinks he's "mentally unstable."
