Student sentenced to death for killing a policeman during protests

A Sudanese court has sentenced Asim Omar Hassan a student member of the opposition Sudanese Congress Party to death.
Hassan was convicted under Article 130 of the Sudanese penal code for allegedly killing a policeman during protests at the University of Khartoum in 2015.

As soon as the verdict was announced crowds gathered outside the court and started chanting slogans against the court before police dispersed them with tear gas and arrested several of them.
