Delta State Ad hoc electoral staff slumps and dies while on dutyOn Saturday, the police in Delta State confirmed the death of an ad hoc staff of Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) deployed to Onicha-Ugbo, Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.  

According to reports, the local government election which initially started peacefully in the state turned violent following reported attacks on the Ughelli office of the State’s Independent Electoral Commission where at least three persons were injured.

The state police public relations officer, Andree Aniamaka, confirmed that the ad-hoc staff slumped and died shortly after delivering the voting materials in a voting centre at Onicha-Ugbo area of the state.

The identity of the deceased staff is however still unknown.  Reports also have it that elections went on smoothly in Aniocha North Local government, with an impressive turn out of voters in areas covered, and largely peaceful. The police spokesperson also confirmed that fire incident in Ughelli North, adding that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
