A pregnant woman has reportedly been killed by unknown persons in Orin, a community in Ido/Osi local government area of Ekiti state. There are conflicting reports about the assailants that killed the deceased.
While residents of the area who spoke to the Cable claim the Fulani herdsmen stormed the farm of the deceased, the state governor, Ayo Fayose's media aide, Lere Olayinka, says the attack is believed to have been carried out by armed robbers.
“The woman was eight-month pregnant. The herdsmen shot her inside her farm,” a source told TheCable.
Lere however says suspects are believed to be armed robbers.
“I don’t think they are herdsmen. It appears like a robbery attack. The tragic incident happened less than 24 hours after Fayose warned against reprisal attacks in the state'' he said
The state police command is yet to confirm the incident.
