27-year-old Ebuka Okori from Umunze Orumba LGA, Anambra State was shot dead by the police at about 2am on Friday, January 19, at No 30 Campbell street berea, Durban, Kwazulu -Natal.
According to his brother whom he lived with, two SAPS men on plain clothes came to their house and broke into the deceased bedroom, demanding for money which he refused.
He was handcuffed behind and shot dead. They took away his phone, e-passport and other valuable documents.
Fortunately, the brother managed to escaped and called for help. Metro Police around the vicinity swiftly intervened. Although they could not arrest the culprits, they were able to pick the number plate of their vehicle.
A case has been open with the following code, Umbilo cas 551/01/2018 murder and armed robbery.
