According to the Nation News, 23-year-old Shawayne Dashawn Williams was charged with murder in the death of Alleyne during his first court appearance on Wednesday. Williams was remanded to prison and will next appear before in court on Jan. 31.
Alleyne was walking near his home at around 7 p.m. on Dec. 26, when he was approached by a man who shot him several times before fleeing the scene, authorities said. Alleyne was rushed to the hospital before dying of his injuries.
Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, 21 was killed just a day after he spent the Christmas day with Rihanna.
The singer who posted series of photos with her cousin to mourn him late last year, has since called for the end of gun violence in the country.
