The ,Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has denied rumours making round on certain platforms that the ongoing voter registration exercise will end by 31st January, 2018.
The country’s election umpire, urged all eligible voters to make use of the available opportunity to register and make their votes count in the upcoming general elections. This is according to a statement signed by Prince Solomon Soyebi, a national commissioner and chairman, information and voter education committee (IVEC) of the commission.
It however pointed out that the exercise would be temporarily suspended 60 days to the scheduled 2019 general elections but will resume upon completion of the election.“Rumours have been going round on different platforms that the Commission will be ending the Continuous Voter Registration on 31st January, 2018. Please this information is false and misleading.
The exercise is ongoing and will continue until the Commission announces a suspension much later in the year, in accordance to the law.”
“The Commission hereby encourages all eligible Nigerians to register at our offices in all local government headquarters and other officially designated areas across the country between 9am and 3pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.”Please call INEC on 0700-2255-4632 for any further information about the CVR exercise.
