In line with tradition of Aliko Dangote’s tradition of helping the less privileged, 40, 000 indigent women in all the local governments in Lagos state were given N400 million. The disbursement was held at the Conference Hall of Lagos House in Ikeja.
The foundation which was set up in 1993 is meant to alleviate poverty and according to Daily Trust, it costs the Foundation a sum of N10 billion and six states have so far benefited.
So far, 256,500 women in Kano, Jigawa,, Kogi, Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe have benefited from the scheme that is expected to move round all the 774 local government areas across the nation.
For the first time since the programme started, beneficiaries will receive the money in their account and also get mobile phones.
