Lagos lawmakers pay tributes to Akiolu on 13th anniversary



The Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday congratulated the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, on the celebration of his 13 years on the throne. The lawmakers took turns on the floor of the House to eulogise the traditional ruler for his achievements in the last 13 years. The Speaker of the House, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, said that the state witnessed tremendous development and growth since the monarch began to reign. Obasa stated that Akiolu worked in peace and harmony with successive governors to uplift and make the state enviable in the country. According to him, oil was discovered in the state during his reign. The lawmakers also passed a resolution to send a congratulatory letter to Akiolu while the Speaker would lead a delegation of lawmakers to pay homage to him. The Assembly further commiserated with the family of Oba Abdulganiyu Oloto, the Oloto of Oto, who died on May 18. The House also commended Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode for successfully hosting President Muhammadu Buhari for the inauguration of some projects in the state on Monday. The lawmaker lauded Ambode for his concern for the security and welfare of residents.
