Oyo police arrest rapist at LAUTECH

The Oyo State Police Command said its Special Anti-robbery Squad has arrested a notorious armed robber and rapist, Habib Ajadi, 30, who specialised in attacking and robbing students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology.

According to the Commissioner of Police in the state, Leye  Oyebade, the arrest of the suspect on May 2, 2016, was made possible by a distress call made to the command after the suspect had successfully robbed one of the students in the school, James Timi, at a bar. The commissioner said the suspect also sexually assaulted his female victims.
Thirty five mobile telephones, a Toyota Camry salon car with number plate KSF 563 DU, laptop computers, a wheel spanner and other items were found in the victim’s possession after his arrest. The commissioner added that Ajadi threatened his victims with a gun if they resisted his wish.
“The suspect waited for his victims along secluded roads and attacked others in their hostels. He was arrested at a criminal hideout by SARS operatives after a complaint was made by one of his victims.”
Ajadi said he attended the Nasarawa State University and graduated with a degree in Computer Science.
“I am from Kwara State and I have been stealing for some months. I did it alone and I have collected phones from many female students at night. I sometimes pretended to make friends with them and after they gave me their phones to save my number, I would run away with the phones. I went to the school with a car, which I bought from the proceeds of my profession as a mobile telephone engineer. I am not a student of the school,” the suspect said.
