Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Senator Aisha Alhassan, made the disclosure in Lafia, capital of Nasarawa, when she paid a visit to the state governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.
According to her, the loan, known as the National Women Empowerment Scheme, is part of the N500bn social intervention fund endorsed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
She listed the beneficiaries as Nasarawa, Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Abia, Osun, Jigawa, and Akwa Ibom states.
Alhassan said the advocacy and sensitisation tour was to inform women on the procedure for obtaining the loan without any form of collateral or bank specification as is the case with previous schemes.
The minister, while disclosing that other states will also benefit from Government Enterprises Empowerment Programme whose funds will soon be released, called on the Nasarawa State Government to domesticate the violence against persons prohibition acts passed by the National Assembly recently.
While responding, Governor Al-Makura gave the assurance that he would send an executive bill to the state assembly for the act to be domesticated in the state and that he would ensure the empowerment programme achieve its set objectives in Nasarawa.
