Photo: Young successful businessman among victims of Biu market suicide bomb attack

A successful businessman identified as Alhaji Yamta Madu Kuri is one of the 13 persons killed in a suicide bomb attack at Biu Market in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State on Saturday.

Abdulkarim Lawan confirmed his death on Facebook,  writing:

"Inna lillahi wa inna illaihi raji un.
We have lost Alh Yamta Madu kuri in the recent bomb blast that occurred today inside Biu main market, A Young and successful Business man.
May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him Jannatul Firdausi and give his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable lost.(Ameen)"

Spokesperson for the State Police command, Mr Victor Isuku, who confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Maiduguri, said that 53 persons sustained injuries while the two female suicide bombers were also killed.

One female suicide bomber infiltrated the market and detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) strapped to her body. The other bomber detonated the explosive outside the crowded market and killed herself.

The corpses were evacuated while the injured have been referred to the General Hospital, Biu.
