A man escaped mob action after he was caught stealing from a woman's bag in Abia state.
The suspect allegedly distracted the woman yesterday then stole an undisclosed amount of money from her basket.
According to reports, he asked the woman to help him get a bar of soap. As she set about to grant his request, he used the opportunity to steal from her. But she noticed in time and raised alarm.
As a crowd gathered and tried to carry out jungle justice, he willingly confessed to stealing the money and begged for forgiveness.
