Buhari's administration is just like Lai's dressing, a useless embarrassment - Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri, an former aide to erstwhile President of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan, has hit out fiercely at Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, after the minister claimed that the Federal Government and its security agencies were aware about the whereabouts of kidnappers and bandits but are only being "careful".

Reno Omokri was quick to remind the federal government of incidences that occurred in October last year, slamming the government about not playing the same carefulness when they dealt with with #EndSARS protesters, an incidence that allegedly followed soldiers opening fire on youths at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos, inflicting injuries to over 30 protesters as well as killing some of the youths.

It had earlier been reported by news that agencies the minister at a briefing on Tuesday said the government indeed knew the locations of kidnappers, adding that security agencies were only being careful to avoid casualties on innocent civilians.

"One of the most difficult things to do, for a democratically-elected government, is to use the instruments of coercion against its own people. For example, while the nation’s military have superior firepower over the rag tag band of Boko Haram and ISWA, the terrorists most often than not operate among the populace, either in our villages or towns, hence the military, in tackling them, is usually careful to avoid collateral damage," Lai Mohammed said.

According to Mohammed, the same applies to students of schools that had suffered abduction in time past. Claiming that the location of the kidnappers are "usually" known to security forces of the nation, he explained that security officers exercise caution always to avoid hurting the same children they're trying to rescue in the process. He however concluded by saying that the security forces still, nonetheless, have the responsibility of tackling the challenges.

Reno Omokri did not find that likely as he fired back in a series of tweets on Wednesday, Omokri found the ‘ being careful’ excuse as laughable. quickly asking the Buhari administration why the same carefulness wasn't exercised during the #LekkiMassacre, or when they massacred Nigerian Shiites.

Why is their mercy only reserved for kidnappers?” Omokri queried.

“Lai, why is your government now appealing to bandits and herdsmen?” He asked further.

He also called the “slaughtering” of the people of Orlu.

With an awkward picture of Lai Mohammed attached, Omokri concluded, “The Buhari administration just like Lai's dressing. A useless embarrassment!” He concluded.
