A 15-year-old child bride has died after suffering from a massive brain hemorrhage while giving birth. The girl known only as Derya B gave birth in a village in the Mutki district of Turkey last week.

However, after the child was born, the girl was rushed to hospital complaining of headaches and nausea.

She was then rushed to intensive care after doctors said she had suffered from a brain hemorrhage but she sadly died on Thursday.

It is thought the brain hemorrhage could have been caused by her giving birth at an early age.

Prosecutors have now launched an investigation into her death and are speaking to her family and husband.

She was married in a religious wedding when she was just 14. It is not clear how old her widower is.

Speaking to hurriyetdailynews, gynecology expert Professor MD Aydan Biri said the girl’s death could be linked to giving birth at a young age.

She said: “The risks of high blood pressure, early birth or an intervention in the birth are higher. The pregnancies of children who have not completed their physical development and whose organs have not yet completely developed often end in death."

A Save the Children report said 700 million girls were married before the age of 18 around the world.
