Operatives attached to the Zonal Intervention Squad (ZIS) of Zone 2 command on September 25, arrested some suspected armed robbers months after alleged robbery operations in Lagos and Ogun States. A statement issued by the spokesperson of Zone 2 Police, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the suspects were arrested using the mobile phones they stole from their victims after a robbery operation at Arigbajo area of Ogun State.One of the victims later informed the police that the armed robbers were still using his stolen phone. Police investigations also revealed that the gang members had been terrorising residents of more than 15 communities in Lagos and Ogun, prompting their being placed under surveillance by the Zonal Intervention Squad.The operatives who worked with the police ICT experts arrested one Lekan. His subsequent confession led to the arrest of four others in their hideouts in Lagos and Ogun states. The suspects included Mutiu, Akeem, Olahusi Rasaq, Kazeem and Waheed.
"The suspects confessed to have carried out robbery operations at Abata, Ifo, Ewekoro, Mowe, Adigbe area of Abeokuta, Iju, Ota, Alakuko and Agege in Ogun and Lagos states, among others,"
Items recovered from the suspects, included refrigerators, laptop, plasma TV sets, generators, wears, electrical appliances and the gang’s operational vehicle, a Mazda bus with registration number Lagos BDG 602 XM.Source: Nigerian Tribune
