Man docked for allegedly obtaining N47,000 from girl friend under false pretence



One Oluwafemi Ogunleye, 29, who allegedly obtained N47,000 under the pretext of securing a container for his girl friend was on Thursday docked before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court. The suspect, a factory worker who lives at No. 5 Oka Akoko St., Iju Ishaga, a suburb of Lagos is facing a one-count charge of obtaining by false pretext. The Prosecutor, Cpl. Samuel Ishola told the court that the offence was committed sometimes in March at Four Square St., Iju, a suburb of Lagos. Ishola said that the suspect collected N47,000 from one Happiness Nwachukwu under the pretext of securing a container for her. “The complainant who is also the suspect’s girl friend reported the case to the police station after he disappeared with the money. “The suspect was apprehended,” he said. The offence, according to the prosecutor contravened Section 312 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The suspect pleaded not guilty. The Magistrate, Miss A.R Onilogbo admitted the suspect to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. She adjourned the case till May 23 for mention.
